Hmmm, I'll have to think about it with my newly available GTX 970. I'll need to read up on the laws though.

if you sell it to him cheaply don't forget to let customs know by making the package as a gift ;)

seriously though, selling internationally is all about checking the cost of the courier, customs and import charges can get handled at the other end, although if you are using a good international service they will often be able to sort it out in advance.

the amount you pay varies from product to product but i bought a pair of boots from the US via Ebay and paid about 25% in import duties at the checkout.

I'm playing with something as a non-sale. I'm looking up the laws for "rental." ;)

This is super easy in Norway at least.
If I buy something that costs more than $40 (including shipping) you get a 25% VAT on it (and the shipping) plus a fee to charge me the fee..
So yea, I try to find something locally..

Which is why I'm only going to charge for the shipping, and include that PayPal receipt as part of the declaration. It's a "rental," paid on 6 month cycles, after the period. ;)

Scan in the UK (https://www.scan.co.uk/products/4gb-asu ... dium=email) is offering £20 cashback on the Asus GeForce GTX 970 STRIX OC Gaming Graphics Card 4GB.

Don't know if they boosted the base price by £20 beforehand.

I'm stuck (happily though) with my 970 cos money. Think I might venture into OSVR with the Razer HDK http://www.razerzone.com/osvr-hacker-dev-kit . I will have to save for about six months so by that time the software should be more optimised and user friendly. I think it's way beyond my computing capabilities at the moment to tinker at that level, although I have surprised myself in the past. What I like about this HMD (should it all work out that is) is that it's modular and designed so that components can be swapped out as and when. Hopefully, should it be a success, it could keep up with technology and be upgraded whenever necessary.

One of the advantages of having a gaming wife (not to mention 22-years of total mega-bliss) is that whenever I don't need something, but it's still capable, I recycle it to her. She's more of a console gamer, so less of a PC gamer, so she gets the latest consoles while I get the latest GPUs.

So whenever I pull the trigger on a GTX 1080 Ti or whatever, she gets the GTX 980 Ti.

Not sure where my post fits with yours but besides that it's really nice to hear from someone who's partner shares their own interest in PC gaming. I'd like to meet a woman who I can ED play with. At least my last [partner had a go at ED so fair play to her. Anyway we liked most of the same music and that's really important to me. Being single has it's advantages such as PC in the living room and suchlike but the sex isn't that great as the internet doesn't talk to you afterwords, although it does let you sleep ;)

Cheers Commander!

My apologies for not noting my context from earlier in the thread ...

Some people were critical for me buying a GTX 980 Ti for $500 in April.
My "fall back" is that it will be recycled to my wife whenever I do finally upgrade.
Until then, I'm getting a lot of use out of it, and can wait on reviews, more options and discounts on the 1000 series.

We're PC's everywhere, but the bedroom, although she has one of her consoles there too.

Yeah, but the Internet doesn't fart "another brand you cannot stand" at the most inopportune time.

A test of true love is the automated car wash starting just as your wife rips one ... especially in a 2-seater with far less air volume. ;)
