Hello Space Cadets :)

Postby DeepCut » Wed Dec 31, 2014 2:39 pm

Aloha !

I am an old gamer but new to ED (got it for xmas).

I have only played a few hours and am frustrated so far for the following reasons :

1. 'Docking Request Denied', 'Docking Request Denied', 'Docking Request Denied', 'Docking Request Denied', ...
2. Bugged missions.
3. Unimaginative missions (fly here, wait for a USS then grab it).
4. Disappearing USS's in-mission.
5.'Docking Request Denied', 'Docking Request Denied', 'Docking Request Denied', 'Docking Request Denied', ...

Hopefully these things will be overcome!

Cheers,

deepy.

Thanks for replies :)

So this site is all about PVE, no PVP ?

Thanks,

deepy

Yes this is purely PVE, the only place you may engage in PVP is warzones if you pick the opposite faction. (although if you'd ask me nicely I'd not target you there either).

Well let's see if I can help you with a few of your complaints... ;-)

1. 'Docking request denied' - did you read the game manual or at least did you read the info screen top-right in your HUD? There you can read the cause for this.
The most common cause would be you're too far away from the station or outpost when trying to get a docking allowance. The distance to a station shouldn't be further than 10km I think and the distance to an industrial outpost shouldn't be further than 7,5km(!) (of this I'm sure).
If you play in "open" mode, well in this case there is a real number of available docking ports per station. Especially outposts near the starter locations were often full (they only have three or four docking bays) and lots of other commanders were just waiting to grab the next free one. This was one of the main reasons I turned away from open play.
Just enter solo oder better enter MOBIUS and this issue should be resolved.
I played from alpha and never had issues with not getting a docking allowance.

2. Bugged Missions (that's a problem of all new released MMPGs - open a ticket and hope for a fix for the next update (which come quite often and not in a fixed time intervall).

3. + 4.) Don't know what you mean by USS... but if you have to follow and kill a pilot then it's quite often the case he flees if he's facing near destruction (a behaviour I find quite nice and the hunt for the pray is pretty exciting in my opinion). In this case build in a wake scanner, scan his remaining energy signature and follow him... then *poof* and off you go with the bounty. :D

Regards
Cytraxx

PS. Oh yes, I know this is a thread for getting known, but since there've been questions asked I tried to answer them... even if this is a bit "off-topic"

It's 7.5 km for stations too.

That's what the game manual says but by my experience you can send out a call to a station immediately you drop out of FSD, which is usually much more than 7,5km.

OK, I had to check, and to my defense, the message is buggy.

9.89 km, denied (please approach to 7500 m):

Turned out that the sweet spot is actually 9.88 km:
