Elite Dangerous is like that - we get a bit tired of the game after a while, take a break and then feel the lure of space combat or exploring or curating a fleet of spaceships once more.

I just came back from an eight month break two months ago myself. :)

Haha, me too!
Did the 3 hour update thing and jumped in my Adder where I'd left it on a Sol outpost and realised I'd actually forgotten the controls, rattled around the pad for a while bouncing off things and picked up a wanted status and fine for pad loitering!
Couldn't see how to pay the fine at the outpost, do I need to go to a main base?

Also, I'd like to do something for the Mobius group, where to go and how to help?

I'm quite new anyway, lousy at combat and only got an Adder, which I love, by the way :)

Not sure how the different instances work or don't work together. Is this for Mobius or Mobius PVE? Or both?

Not sure that I fully understand your question, but here's some info..........

We have two private groups within E-D. Mobius and Mobius PvE. Members are allowed to be in one group or the other, but not both due to size constraints. Mobius group is full and not accepting new members.

People who are in one group (for instance "Mobius") cannot see players in the other group (Mobius PvE) on their galaxy map. But, if they are on each others friends list, they will see their friend on the comms panel and can text chat with them in-game.

I'm sorry, I need to be more specific. For example, this thread viewtopic.php?f=16&t=6979 I assume is is for Mobius, I'm on Mobius PVE. When I read these threads how do I know if they are for Mobius or MPVE or both? If I follow the same steps in Mobius PVE as somebody in Mobius are we both helping? Are all the private groups, solo, open tied together in regards to how you influence the universe?

We are all in the same universe, no matter if solo, open, mobius, mobius pve, your own private group, and even xbox as far as I know. So no matter what game mode you are in, we all affect the same universe.
So yes, If you follow the same steps in Mobius PVE as someone in Mobius, you both are helping.
I play on PC, in the Mobius PVE Eurasia group.

Yes, what JustSomeGuy said. ^^^ We are all in the same game, and our actions have the same amount of weight no matter what mode (open/solo/private group) we're playing in. A war in Azrael is a war in Azrael, no matter what mode you are in. If you fight in the war, your actions impact who wins the war, no matter what mode or group you are in.
