I agree, more credits is the obvious answer but I'd also do it if FDev came up with some sort of creative reward. A mining CG would be a start, haven't seen many of those.

Use this guide; you can outfit the core and hard points as you wish (apart from mining lasers).

Many thanks!

Hey bud. ;)

Here's my old Python mining setup. It's a trade ship loadout, setup for mining. It can defend itself to an extent. (you shouldn't need much in the way of defenses anyway)

Hmm yeah i think ill stick to bounty hunting in my FDL for now at the very least

Although I'm sure that mining can be useful and a nice change of pace, to me it just seems to slow and low profit to really be a sustainable source of income. Although i could just be completely unaware of a particular feature of it that makes it very worthwhile, it's always appeared to me like that (and NPC miners take up space that could be occupied by a wanted person to shoot :P)

That is actually a waste of time, since the following change is documented in the release notes for 2.2:

Either pick up the mission(s) before you start mining, or just sell.

Then I hit a bug with that. I've had a few mining missions pop-up asking for osmium that I already had in my hold.
I'm interpreting it that the mission won't reward you with the ore you mined.

My opinion, best ship for mining: Python.
My Python was all around outfitted. With 1 mining laser. Killed pretty much anything. And could easily mine stuff with the number of slots she has for limpet Controllers and limpets.
But I bought a Clipper to do my mining now. As my Python has better things to do. Trying to diversify. Else I would sell all my ships and just keep the Python.

It is still working. I just did it, even though I don't like it. I rather stack the missions and go mining.

I understand that note the same way as Azathoth. A mining mission that wants you to mine Osmium will not reward you with Osmium.

Anyways, did my share of mining today, 60 tons of Bromellite and 85 tons of other worthless stuff. Had this idea to mine the ores to unlock engineer Bill Turner, because why not. :)
I've usually done some short mining runs in a Cobra mk IV, but this time fitted Python with the drill bits. Should have taken bigger collector limpet controllers, had only 4 collectors flying around and I had to wait for them as two class 2 mining lasers are just too fast for only 4 limpets.

Bromellite was a bit rare-ish.. But low temp diamonds, those are extremely rare. Saw only one rock with a tiny bit of it, not even enough to create 1 ton of final product. Painite is common in comparison. And yep, I was in pristine ice ring.
I play on PC, in the Mobius PVE Eurasia group.
