Slowly, very slowly, making my way through the systems around Colonia. Once I get about 100lys away from Colonia I start finding totally unexplored systems.

So I think I'll hang around here for awhile and try to get close to hitting Elite Explorer before making my way back to the bubble.

Hope they fix the neutron star/white dwarf bug soon. Really want to see the new jet animations.

I had my first interaction with another Mobius Commander last evening. Thanks to CMDR Killert214 for reaching out for some bounty hunting. Sorry I was so far away, but I have you bookmarked and will probably head that direction soon. I'm still a ways outside the bubble, but I'm pointed back toward civilization now.

On to my reasons for being out where I am. I've had a hankering to head out in to the black for some time, just to get a taste of what's out there, but never made the commitment to go. That is, until I ran into a gentleman at Yang Hub in Ross 129. He and his 6 friends were on a mission to collect data at a Carbon Star. While it's designation escapes me, the desire to see it myself was more than enough to take on the task of getting them there. The 6.7M credits is just a bonus. We joked. We drank. We ate. And of course, we slept...a lot... on the 1300LY trip, but also managed to gather quite a bit of exploration data along the way. It seems our on board cameras were malfunctioning for most of the trip, but I did manage to snap a few shots once we arrived in the destination system.

When I saw "Carbon Star" I wasn't expecting anything quite so big or so beautiful. Also, I was moderately worried that this was a suicide mission when I dropped in, and got a canopy full of star and a heat gauge on the rise.

I got some distance before starting to look for my final destination. Yes, of course it's on that first planet...

Little closer....

On approach

Dare I try my first planet landing in my Asp this far out, with so much at stake?

Totally worth it!

I've left my passengers to their own devices for the day. I believe they will spend most of their time gathering data, while I'm managing the financial side of my business for several hours. Have to keep the money coming in to keep my ship flight worthy, right?

Fly safe, Commanders o7

So... I discovered that if you enter super cruise or just a hyperspace jump with assistance off then, when you arrive at the end of a jump, your throttle is zeroed and you're carrying no velocity. This has meant that I've jumped into neutron star jets and been fine. The jets seem to make control difficult if you're actually moving, but if you're stationary you just seem to get shoved sideways out of the jet.

I'm not sure what happens if you're using an HOTAS setup and zero the throttle before the jump ends though

Just returned from a round trip to Alpha Centauri. Left Exoice and got back a little bit ago. I did a lot of discovery stuff, or so I thought. I scanned every system/planet/asteroid belt/star that was undiscovered in every system. My rank for exploring didn't change, that was kind of disappointing. I did however get my invite from Felicity. I suppose I could start on that next.

Sometimes it takes a few minutes for exploration rank to show an increase after you turn in data. You may want to check it again.
