That is, break the trip into 22 parts. I'm not worried about scooping, since the star density only gets better as I go along. I figure I'd line up in the map, and just bookmark a target system every 1000 lightyears.
If this isn't the smartest way, advice is appreciated. I figure this would make the trip more manageable, and give mini-goals to shoot for.
Breaking the trip into 1000 LY chunks is smart, doing this using bookmarks has room for improvement. There are two main alternatives: A convoy is leaving for Jaques this Sunday at 1900 Game Time. They already have a route planned, will have fuel rats in attendance, etc. Details can be found in this thread on the FDev forums.
If you want to go solo, my recommendation is to get an EDSM account, install ED Discovery, link the two, and use the route plotter of ED Discovery with a jump range of 1000 LY to get your intermediate stops. You will have to fiddle with the routing settings if any of the star names shows up as "WAYPOINT" because that means that EDSM does not have a target star near those coordinates.
I used this method after the waypoints from the original rescue missions ended about 10 kly short of Jaques, and not only made it there, but also managed to find Sag A* and my way home. 628 LY to Azrael
With trying to buy a house, pack, and move.. I just can't commit to a convoy. I have EDD installed, but it was acting up the other day. Now it's finally acknowledging I have an account, again.
Hmm.. I have my Max Jump set to 17.01, my max range laden, and routing metric to nearest to waypoint. You said that I would need to fiddle with settings. Which ones? I have an excessive amount of waypoint listings in the 1293 jumps on my list.
Routing from Shinrarta Dezhra to EOL PROU RS-T D3-94 for reference.
I think if it's 1300ish jumps, I'll try and get 130 jumps per day, only doing scanning when I need to scoop.
For right now, it's time to close the game, setup my outdoor burner, and deep fry some unhealthy fried chicken!
