If you are going to explore remember your Adv Discovery Scanner, I also have the basic scanner but Im not 100%sure if thats needed.

If you have the advanced discovery scanner, you do not need the basic or intermediate discovery scanners. However, you do want the detailed surface scanner for the extra cash.

Once at Maia you can also check out the black hole in the system

Seconded, and black holes are also worth quite a bit if you scan them.

Now this is defiantly interesting. Done just over half my trip to Maia. Made just over 300k from exploration. And I very nearly ran out of fuel. As there was no station on the route. Lucky I was able to detour. So I have now swapped a cargo box, for an extra fuel tank.

You can also fit a fuel scoop to your ship so you can refuel by flying near stars. Not all stars, only classes K G B F O A M.

I have also hit another problem, limited jump range. So I have to now double back on myself. To find somewhere to buy an upgrade Drive

Try plotting smaller jumps 3 -5 systems at a time each time ending at a KGB FOAM class star

i can do 12ly at a time. But as I am happy to upgrade, I will see if i can squeeze some more out of it.
