I managed to rank to level 5 with Felicity Farseer last night... just need to pick up the magnetic emitter coil, and pray for a good roll.

I only have the materials for one go at the level 5 FSD range increase. I have to wait until I'm done with work today to do this, and nervously awaiting the result.

I'm running in a Vulture ... again. Only ~700K insurance to replace, although I haven't died yet (haven't played much). I only have a small cargo hold (keep going between 8t and 16t), and am otherwise totally combat-kitted with A-spec everything, max size. I'm going to try to level up with the Engineers.

I'm purposely pulling out of the Nebula trip. I don't want to be in anything but a Vulture now, but it's got a pathetic jump range. Because nothing would piss me off more than being in a 22ly Python (let alone a 30ly Asp), coming back with all sorts of scanning data after 100+ hours of game play, and getting f'd right up the rear within 3ly of a station.

Wouldn't be the first time, and that was only after 2+ hours of mining.

Unless I totally misremember, there is an upcoming update where the random stuff is replaced with deterministic results, at the cost of a reputation hit with the engineer. My current plan is to rank up with the various engineers so that I have access to the maximum level, wait for that patch, and then take the rep hit instead of relying on chance.

Unfortunately, no date for this patch was given, I hope they do not mean 2.2.

Your call, theBS, but they have Iridium Wing on escort duty. Me, I'm just packing my own lasers and shields. (Though I can usually escape anything before even getting my shields too singed if I choose to run.)
