Ahhhh! so tempted, I don't usually 'beta' preferring to save the new goodies for the main game, don't get me wrong, I appreciate the importance of beta testing, I just like to discover things for real if you know what I mean. I also want to get back to the bubble, but so many new toys...

I hear ya. This is the first time ever that I've participated in a Beta. It's great to experience the new things that work well, but it's frustrating to work through the things that aren't right.

If I could go back and re-think it, I probably wouldn't have invested the time and energy on the beta. I'm a 'finished product' kind of guy too. (As much as E-D will ever be finished)

I think I'm done tinkering in 2.1 until the next beta update. Back to the real game, where my progress counts!

I'm at the Leonard Nimoy Station following a lead that will hopefully give some additional clues to the kidnapping of Jack Dunhill. Last clue was a bust but these guys here tell me that he was possibly taken by two Felicia Winters' agents for interrogation and that his ship was confiscated by a rogue federation faction.

Might as well follow the lead, I'll take anything at this point. There's also a nice new RES at the planet this station is orbiting, the beta changed it into a sparse ice RES.

I coerced Dawg into Alliance space to see if we can get allied here too. We did lots Conda/Cutter runs for the fuel rats as well, so we are just doing things that we find.

So far all the little details feel soooo good - AI is not doing scan and ram anymore, launch from stations is much faster (no need to wait for those weird panels to go down) etc. But the big changes feel forced and awkward.

RES fighting is completely borked at the moment, you have to be sure you can one shot your enemies - if you don't, they fly out of range at the second their shields go down and the security forces kill it (because apparently the AI doesn't run away from them, not even Anacondas) and you get nothing. This has been possibly the biggest downside this far.

Also the new Engineers thingy seems awesome and the modifications they offer seem really good. Sad thing is, you have no idea where to get the materials for the modifications and you can't buy them anywhere. Blowing up enemy ships gives you basically invaluable crap that you can't use in the mods.

But I'm guessing these will be balanced out somehow. Or not.
