VULTURE outfitting

Postby OLd_Sarg » Mon Mar 28, 2016 1:13 pm

I have been running my now A rated Cobra III for a while and it is one slippery (and fun) smuggler 8-)

I have made about 20 mil and I am a mostly clueless noob. :?

any way I have credits burning a hole in my virtual pockets and want a "VULTURE" to do some combat.

I have seen a link many times to a site that you can set your ships up on to see the cost and performance but I can find it now that I would like to use it,
can some one give me the link please?

any nice load-outs would be welcome also

I am on the same step as you are. Got cash and mumbling "choices choices" while pondering the loadout of a combat ship.

Despite being a careless spender I think I will first train combat in a Viper Mk III. Its not that big step from Cobra and I can simply keep dying while testing my limits without ruining my pocket and then climb into a Vulture.

The issue I have with a Vulture is that it is damn powerhungry and even with best power plant it tends to test its limits. KWS and Cargo Scanner are damn eaters. That being said, Vulture loadouts are usually two pulse lasers, shield, chaff for throwing off turrets and gimbals, shield cells and boosters to taste. Thrusters, plant, distributor, sometimes FSD - A class. Tune up your power requirements and go kill stuff.

EDIT: Also depends if you want to just go hunting in combat zones or play police with interdictor and scanners...?

This is my current Vulture setup. You can replace those extra fuel tanks with hull reinforcement if you want (Problem with Vulture is canopy breach and armour won't help with that)

Make sure you set power management priorities so your whole ship won't shut down when you deploy hardpoints

I usually turn off fuel scoop when going to combat zone and turn it back on when traveling...

*EDIT*

Oh and do buy ships and modules in Li Yong-Rui controlled space to get that juicy -15% discount to ships and modules.

thanks for the great input!
Jack I like your setup and think I will give it a try. I have enough to buy it with no insurance
I could sell my Cobra III and have plenty but I can't see selling this hot rod, just fun!

so I will run another run outside the bubble and pick up some contraband, only once more and I will change my ways officer......

and Aurynn I liked the Viper III I had a lot! I am tempted to get one again and A rate it, but I needed/wanted something really fast to try smuggling with, and as long as my head is in the game no can catch me before I FSD out.

Do not fly any ship without insurance, wait a while longer and get it after you can afford both.

If you ever want a wingman, im always up for blowing stuff out with my FAS :)

The viper is roaring snarls rottweiler.
Tough and scrappy in a fight. But the vulture is a more like a tiger it kills everything and nothing can touch it.

You don't have to spend 20 miles to get a good vulture build.
I'm thinking something like this http://coriolis.io/outfit/vulture/04A5A ... %20vulture

If you go to Diaguandri or Lembava you get 15% off on both ship and outfitting so it shouldn't cost more than about 13 mil. And you should be able to get about 2-3 mil per hunting session in a res once you get into it.

Rule 1: Pillage. Then burn.
Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.

Yes I found out about the insurance coverage the hard way.
Have enough for insurance at least twice! (that was my second re-roll  )

I believe mine's set up something like this: http://coriolis.io/outfit/vulture/04A5A4A3D5A4D3C0v0v070m--4d326b002f.AwRj4zyA.AwhMIy3Yg===?bn=Newt%20Attack, which might run against conventional wisdom in some areas but suits my playstyle.
