Some Scenes from the Division

I thought I'd share some of the really nice lighting and graphics from The Division.

Sry, to be "that guy", but I find it odd how ubisoft think that making everything look as if it's covered in various stages of polished to unpolished car wax is a good idea.

Hey I'm Thor -
People call me Bob.

Rule 1: Pillage. Then burn.
Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.

Now now TT, you seem a bit "upset" with Ubisoft? Do you two have history? ;)

I think the pics are awesome!

I played it a bit a couple of nights ago. It didn't 'grab' me the way the new Tomb Raider game did (which is taking me away from E: D ).
Certainly my interest in these FPS type games is short lived so I'll be back to focusing on the proper game soon.

Don't get me wrong, it looks good but it just doesn't float my boat for long.

It'a different and that's the whole point for me.

The game play is like Borderlands 2 only set in a more believable atmosphere.

The engine is quite impressive, some examples:

I shot at a potted plant and the clay pot shattered, the dirt flew everywhere and the plant itself was shredded,

There was a back lighted display in a subway showing the train routes and stations. I shot at the glass until it broke enough to slide out of the frame and to the floor where it shattered into slivers of glass and then a few more shots and the lights broke in the display and they went out.

When bullets contact different surfaces, the results are quite different. Paper/cardboard is shot through with the tell tail gunpowder stains around the hole. Firing at a metal cabinet will sometimes just dent the metal leaving an uneven hole as the shell skittered off the surface and the paint is chipped. Wooden objects, such as doors splinter.

The setting is the Xmas season in New York so there is snow and lots of it. I was playing last night and there was a snow storm, I could see it blowing around past the street lights and it was collecting on my clothes. I climbed onto the roof of a car and my boots made marks in the snow as my feet slipped against the metal roof. Foot prints appear and disappear as the snow fall covers them up.

If the player hits a car with heavy gunfire, the car's alarm will go off and the lights will blink on an off. You can then shoot out the lights and the plastic will crack and break and the light will go out.

The level of detail is so real its almost like I was there. I went down into a sewer when I came across an open manhole cover and it was so real I could almost smell that sharp odar that always accompanies sewage.

Right now I am level 11 and about half way to 12. I have some blue armor that was found and some I crafted. I have a blue police M4 and I got the DPS on my primary weapon to 5,018. My main abilities, I use the AOE heal station and the mini turret.

I usually explore and mission alone and when I do a mission I also try it solo and then end up pugging a group and if they continue like last night the game is going to be short lived for me.

The mission was to locate the virus infused dollar bills that were used to start the epidemic. Tried it solo, dead easy until the boss appeared and that was end of story for me. Tried it 3 times and gave up and figured ok lets a get a group. I've done a few in pickup groups and they turned out ok. Well not last night. We got through the mission ok and then wiped more than a dozen times on the final boss. I kept throwing out my mini turret to draw the boss so its back was to me and I could shoot the flame thrower tanks on its back and it would have worked if the two guys that were with helped. But it seemed they were both oblivious to the task at hand. They even ran past me when I needed a revive.

Is the Division DX12? I ask as the update to Tomb Raider a few days ago stated in the changes that the main thing was moving it to DX12.
I'm wondering really on behalf of E: D and hoping that 2.1 might be DX12 to help with performance.

I just checked "The Division" store page on Steam and according to the recommended requirements its Direct X 11.
