Heads up in Varati

Postby J Chadwick » Thu Mar 10, 2016 11:43 pm

So I figured I'd get a jump on the Varati palladium mining CG and headed out with a wingmate. I was flying my T7 but with my wingmate in a Python I figured we'd be alright. After a good mining session we headed to Varati to turn in the spoils. Radar clear, smooth sailing to the statio... interdiction.

It was just a Viper so not too worried, my wingmate drops in with me and I deploy hardpoints. Wouldn't you know it, magically two more pirates appear, one in a Python... I'm running. The python rams me. Rebuy screen. 20t of Pd and 60t of Pt, Au, Painite scattered across the black. [insert sick-to-my-stomach emoji]

Fly safe CMDRs!

Honestly sound like a standard NPC wing of pirates.

It was NPCs. But I've never seen two additional ships appear like that, usually just the interdictor.

This has happened to me. As many as 4 ships. Fortunately they were all small ships and I was able to take them out.

Happened multiple times to me, I think your combat rank may affect what kind of enemies you'll get. Anyway I usually bug out, too much wasted time to destroy them.

Pretty typical scenario for me too.... one interdictor at first, then a few seconds later 2-3 more ships show up. I always just align with my target (station, system, whatever), boost, start FSD, boost and bye-bye. I don't care if I'm in my unarmed Cutter, Vette of death, or any other ship. Battling interdictors is not worth the time and effort to me... and I would forget to claim the bounty anyway.

I also think it involves some concernt with your combat rank as well.

This also affect busy systems, since there can be a deadly commander who triggered the interdiction, but missed it.
You jump in at the right time and the npc's do their thing with you instead.

CG areas and other places with a lot of CMDR activity has always had more interdictions than any other systems.

Good to know it wasn't a fluke. In the future I'll stick with running! Anyone looking to mine Pd in a wing near Varati feel free to hit me up.

I refitted my python for mining this morning. I'll be shooting rocks this weekend for the CG. I'll keep an eye out for ya. :)

I had this happen to me this week also, I had 40t of Palladium on board for the last CG.
One Imperial Clipper pulled me down then a few seconds later another one popped in. I was in my Cobra III so ya I was running with the first one! They got 1 (yes one) shot off at me, I was barrel rolling and they missed big time. I did lose my shields (no chaff) to 2 missile hits but they where eating my stardust by then :D (insert Jan and Dean song "hey little cobra") I could feel there virtual NPC rage

love a fast ship 8-)
