Imperial rank progression

Postby Skipp » Mon Feb 29, 2016 9:33 am

Hello hello...

I've been absent for a while and the cutter grabbed my attention. Unfortunately, I'm a rank short. Now, I know I used to grind random missions to increase my local rank which, somehow, boosted my empire rank as well...

However - wherever I go now, most of the local factions are already friendly or allied with me, and I remember that I read somewhere how doing missions for allied factions doesn't contribute to your global rank as much as neutral factions.

So i wanted to search for a neutral faction aligned to Empire but i couldn't find any. I jumped around and all neutral factions were independent.

So - what should I do to boost my Empire rank quickly? For example, I did 4-5 missions but only got 1% up in the Empire rank. With that tempo - it would take me 50-60h of gametime

I did my rank by just picking up a lot of smuggling missions, I started near Azrael and headed away about jumps (think I started at HIP 20277), then basically just went where ever the missions took me. I tried to only take medium or high rep ones. I used a python with a good combat load out but also 160 tons cargo space so I could stack the delivery/smuggling missions. If i recall it was taking about 3 missions to go up 1% and every now and then it would jump up an extra 1%.
I dont think there is a super quick way anymore as a lot of the ways have been nerfed however someone more knowledgeable than me may be able to point you in the right direction hopefully.

The best way I Have found is the long range courier missions you can pick up at some of the oulying systems like Fehu. If your in a major hurry you can stack a lot of these.

A lot of these pay quite well, but not as well as the smuggling missions. However I'm sure the rep gain is higher.

Doing this I went from nothing to Baron in a week playing a couple of hours a night.

Hey Skipp! :D

It's great to see you bad here bud.

Another quick Empire rank location is Cubeo 3 (that is...if you have Horizons).

There are a few videos and explanations of the surface assault missions here.

Besides being good for Empire ranking, they are fun as hell.... IMO.

Tbh, I was hoping someone would point out locations of systems where i can just pay a lot of charity missions :D

Guess that was nerfed too.

Thnx for the inputs... Looks like i'll have to suck it up and grind all over again... sigh...

I have a fully combat fitted python so i'm not scared of anything that flies towards me actually... It's just that I don't have tons of hours free for ED.

@JohnLuke - ohaithar o7 Thnx for the welcome (again) hehe.
I've been busy with X:Rebirth and a sideproject I did. Also, the new expansion for X came out and it's full of shiny eyecandy so i can't stop playing that hehe.

But yea - I have Horizons. Preordered it but tbh - i don't feel very satisfied with it so far. It's still the same old thing with rock landings. Hopefully the new patch brings a new mission system and more meaningful stuff to do.

HIP 10716 is the easiest for ranking in Empire. The raids are quicker than Cubeo and nothing really shoots at you so you can use an ASP with middle racks.

Took me 5 raids to go from Marquis to Duke. This was with between 30-45 min of mission stacking. As a bonus, each raid yields a minimum of 10M credits.

The "raids" are on planets right?

I have a python with 5x pulse lasers. Do i need to switch to something specific? Missles? PACs? Railguns?

For ground assaults I use 1-2 fixed beams and the rest are dumbfire missles. If you go to Cubeo, you'll want point defence too, since the Goliath fires a lot of missles at you.
