Had a weird one yesterday afternoon.

Dawg and I were in game and winged up. At some point, the instance we were in sorta broke. (We know this because on your contacts panel, wingmates that are in your instance will have the same symbol next to their names that they have on the wing display at the top of the screen, and Dawgs was missing, even though i could see him, selecting Wingmand 1 did nothing).

Dawg decided to jump up into SC and come back in on my beacon to get things synced up. I had just discovered a large mining facility and landed nearby as he did the Hop to SC. When he came back in, I took off and we maneuvered into position to attack the turrets of the mining station.

That's when it all got weird. Dawg opened fire and suddenly we had a hostile contact and Dawg was loosing shields. I called a Code 39 as we know how fast the turrets can strip shields, but that was not the issue. He was being attacked by a wanted Hostile Viper Mrk 4. We turned on the viper and it took us a bit of dog fighting to get him down, but we did it. We were at low attitude so we had to watch each other, the ground, and the fighter, as well as keeping out of the firing range of the turrets.

This was the only time we have ever encountered this phenomenon since we started this Planet Raiding in December. He was messaging Dawg for Cargo, so my thought is that he was planning on interdiciting Dawg in SC but Dawg dropped out before he had a chance so he followed the wake. If he would have been protecting the station, he would have not been after cargo.

Even though it seems to be an anomaly, it was wicked fun and I think it would be awesome to have this happen more often. Having a ship come out of nowhere to protect ground assets instead of just skimmers, sentries, guardians, and goliaths added a lot to that simple take down of a mining installation.

Anyone else have anything like this happen on the planet surface before?

A typical A-Team style day Saturday was.

Kharma was working today, so he didn't get on till later in the evening. But During the day, Dawg and I were doing some missions off the boards to increase Dawgs rank in the Empire so he can eventually get a Cutter. We had done a few delivery missions (we would take the same missions and fly as a wing to the destination) and were soon joined by the Famous Tor "I killed it already" AKA Bob.

As luck would have it, shortly after he joined I was interdicted by an FAS in my Python, and he was a Master rank I believe, so I knew it was going to be a little rough for me. Dawg called out that he was on his way. I started pounding the FAS and had a good position on him. He chaffed, so I untargetted him kept the fire up. Once the Chaff ended, I targeted him again and kept firing. Over the TS I hear "That's Me".

I did not see Tor drop in on the instance and was so focused on the FAS that when the Chaff ended, I hit my Target Ahead button not knowing that the aggressor had moved to the side slightly. I had targeted Tor who was also flying an FAS and was pounding into him. OH Shit!Sorry Tor! I quickly switched back to the enemy FAS and Tor swooped in and pulverised him quickly finishing what I started. Typical A-Team. Tor shows up to save me, and I shoot him in the face!

We continued to do missions, the three of us, and Tor switched to a Python so it was the Three Amigos in Red Pythons.



We would take the same missions as they were paying well and giving some rank rewards and head off. At one point, we were headed about 90ly from the start point and I joked that we were going to be interdicted every jump. Sure enough, first jump with Dawg in the lead, he gets the "I've come a long way for whats in your hold" message. We wait for the interdiction but Tor says "Nevermind he crashed into the star." Next jump, I get the message and I submit. Its an eagle or something stupid like that and he is blown away in seconds. This continues for about half the jumps in that run. It seemed that every Eagle, Adder, Sidewinder and Viper were out to try to kill us. It Didn't end well.

At one point I had to step away and told the guys to continue. I was in SC and moved away from the sun and throttled back. I did however forget to drop to normal space. I return a few minutes later, finding my ship in normal space with one shield ring left. It appears that I had been interdicted after stepping away as Tor and Dawg moved on. Because I was at Zero Throttle, it was an auto Submit. Dawg and Tor saw this, and Tor made the 2 jumps back, drop in on my wing signal, and I arrived back in time to see him dispatch whatever had done it.

This is how the A-Team Works. Tor came 2 Jumps back to save my ass. I thanked him and though Dawg had tried, he didn't make it fast enough. But they both were willing to return and save me. They could have let me get blown up and it would have been okay. in fact, we all would have had a good laugh regardless, but they Didn't. I was AFK and they were the playing the Heroes.

A while later Dawg and I took a couple of extra missions that Tor did not see on the board for whatever reason, and although he didn't have to, he tagged along on them to keep us company. So, here was Tor heading to a station for no reason, helping us, and he got interdicted twice on the way. Of course he killed them long before we could get to him. Typical.

I ended up being interdicted by a Viper I think, and Tor dropped in, and I had already opened up as did Tor, and Dawg dropped in. Tor and I stopped firing after his shields down so Dawg could get a piece of the bounty. We said "Killem Dawg" and he replied, Wait till I get the puppies out". As we waited the Vipers Shields came back up, so I took the m down again and yet again said "Killem Dawg" to which we heard "Wait, hang on." The viper was at 12% hull. I got tired of Waiting for Dawg to figure out how to shoot, so I killed him.

Dawg: Wait? He's dead?

Me: Yeah, I was tired of Waiting.

Dawg: But I was just about to shoot!

Me: Sorry but I waited long enough and we have people to see and places to be.

Tor: Snort!

The 2 most common heard things today was always from Dawg: "You're going to kill him before I get there, aren't you?" and "He's Dead Already???"

Tor and I got bored at one point as Dawg stepped away to rescue a Curry. We were at a Coriolis station and I was getting up close and personal when Tor decided to buy a sidewinder and buzz through the super structure with it.





Shortly after this I shoved my Python into the same space nose first almost at the bottom of that spot and was watching the station rotate around me. On hindsight, I should not be doing this with a ship that has a 4 million rebuy, but it was one of those DOOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEET moments.

I hope the other guys got pics, because I was too busy with thruster control and sweating at my stupidity.
