Hello from...the other side?

Postby DragonSoulSong » Fri Feb 12, 2016 4:17 am

*cringes* Okay, I'm sorry...that joke was simply too good to pass up...regardless of how terrible it is... XD

Anywho, Commander Aizria, here! Greetings from the other side of the Sagittarius Gap! ^.^

I'm pretty new in more ways than one! I've been playing Elite: Dangerous for close to a month and a half now, and I picked up Horizons just shy of a month ago. I started out playing exclusively in open play, as I love playing with others and making new friends online, however my experience with the meta-alloys CG changed how I played for a time. Originally, I was merely in Pleiades out of curiosity and in the interest of exploration and research into the then-newly-discovered barnacles, and when the CG was announced, I thought that I was lucky to already be in the area so that I could easily participate.

However, things were not to be so simple. I was taught a harsh lesson, more than once, at the hands of griefers in Maia. ;-; I then decided that my love of PvE, long my preferred style of gameplay in most games, outweighed my desire to play with others online, and I resolved to play primarily in solo and in my own private group rather than risk unwanted and unwarranted PvP interactions. Despite that, I was unhappy. I disliked feeling as though I had to give up one thing that I loved about this game in order to have the other.

Thankfully, I caught wind of this group, and I immediately sent in a join request, happy at the prospect of finally having the best of both worlds! :D Having now been playing exclusively in the Mobius PvE group, and admittedly lurking around the forum here, since partway through my first serious exploration trip, about a week ago, I decided that it was about time that I introduced myself...lest I become an eternal lurker. XD

Since joining, I have returned from my first trip, replaced my trusty Cobra with a DBX, and have recently been on a second exploration trip. I am currently, as I alluded to at the start of this post, beyond the Sagittarius Gap en route from the Trifid Nebula to NGC 6357, after which I plan to turn around, hitting several other locations of interest on my way back to the bubble and finally landing, for the first time may I add, in Azrael. :3 Currently, it looks as though I'll be back to civilization no later than the end of Sunday, and I hope to see some of you around during my planned break in inhabited space before I head back out of the bubble again! ^.^ If anyone is ever interested in winging up for activities in the bubble, or even exploration (because we all know how lonely it can get out there), feel free to drop me a line! :)

For anyone that has read through the entirety of this obnoxiously long post (I'm well aware that I'm prone to walls of text), many thanks for taking the time to do so! It takes me quite a while to type, proofread, and revise these massive tracts of text, so I'm always grateful for those who are willing to stomach such a read! ^.^'

In any case, whichever kind of person you are, whether you read through it all, or jumped to the end for a tl;dr, I hope to see you out there in the black! If you see me around, though probably a rarity, please feel free to hail me! ^w^

This is Commander Aizria, signing out, fly safe commanders! o7

Greetings and welcome to Mobius, Commander Aizria.

It certainly sounds like you are a fan of exploration in E-D! You are quite a ways out of the bubble, and you plan to just 'stop by' for a bit before heading out again! Impressive. :)

**Currently there exists an issue with accepting new commanders into the in-game group (not the forum).
New players can continue to apply to join in-game, but it we are waiting for a fix from FD for you to be able to play in the group. We are truly sorry for the inconvenience this may cause for new applicants and would like to ask for your patience while Frontier Developments is working on a solution!**

Please feel free to add your name to the In game friends list thread, and check out our TeamSpeak servers to easily chat with, and possibly wing up with other commanders.

Also, make sure to check the Policy page if you haven't already.

On top of all of that, we also have a Facebook group and Twitter feed.

There is a lot of great info on the message board, and we have compiled a long list of Tips and Tricks to help new players acclimatize to the game while having fun.

Finally, if you are interested in being involved, go here to see information about our player group faction, the Order of Mobius. We have our own Discord (voice and text chat) servers for supporters of Mobius, as well as our own Order of Mobius Twitter feed.

Another read from me also. Kudos to you for travelling epic distances. My other CMDR is barely 2000ly away and I'm considering turning him back.

Feel free to get in touch if you want to wing up at any time!

indeed, I took my conda out and got as far as 14k Ly from sol.
Then I got REALLY bored not having anything shooting at me so found the "instant travel button" and found myself back home :P

Glad it sounds like you made the cut before the issues adding people to the group started!

If Space Madness really drives you insane enough to self destruct an Anaconda...I think I should go back home. Pronto.

But didn't you lose a ton of exploration data too?

Firstly, thank you so much, everyone for the warm welcome! ^.^ I was amazed when I finally got around to checking on this today that there were so many replies! O.O That said, on to individualized replies!~ :3

JohnLuke wrote:It certainly sounds like you are a fan of exploration in E-D! You are quite a ways out of the bubble, and you plan to just 'stop by' for a bit before heading out again! Impressive. :)

I must admit that exploration is absolutely my favorite way to pass the time! ^.^ I started out doing just a little bit of everything, other than mining, to earn my way up to better ships, but once I got my Cobra I decided to focus on exploration and really haven't looked back since. :3 I love the sciences, with astronomy and astrophysics being a couple of my favorites, so I just eat this stuff up. x3

Thanks, though compared to many, the distances that I've covered as of yet are child's play. ^.^" That being said, I've been gaining experience doing mid-range exploration before taking the plunge and eventually doing a trip to Sgr A* and beyond. I've found that, being alone the majority of the time I have to make my own fun during the more boring stints of systems...I'll just not mention the risks that I've taken and gotten away with for the fun of it while out here. XDD And I'll certainly keep you in mind as a flying buddy as I swing back around towards home! :D

Oh...speaking of the silly risks that I've taken... Space madness is real! Be careful out there, commanders! I may be hazardous upon finally returning to the bubble! XD (I actually highly doubt that I'm a real threat to anything or anyone, other than random NPC Sideys and Eagles...and perhaps myself... >w>")

Schmobius wrote:Glad it sounds like you made the cut before the issues adding people to the group started!

So it would seem that I did, and I'm certainly glad! ^w^ It's a shame that more people cannot be added right now...hopefully that'll be resolved soon for those that are joining more recently.
