Around Wolf 417. How do you find bad guys? No bloody Nav Beacons anywhere.


Look for any planets with metallic rings and you'll find Resource Extraction points. They always have pirates. Nav Beacons are your best bet though, no chance of flying into an asteroid (speaking from painful experience).

Just don't pick a resource extraction point on the dark side of a planet.... you can probably guess why :mrgreen:

I hopped from wolf 417 to eranin with said eagle. And got 5 kills. Had to reload once (those multi cannons aren't cheap on ammo are they). After reloading I forgot to chose a faction so didn't get any money for three of my kills. Certainly a lot more fun than trading but you don't make much money!

There's more money to make in extraction zones and near nav beacons (especially the latter). But you have to be patient. Sometimes the good bounties take a while to arrive.

I've been tending to just fly around until I find something or some poor moron pulls me from FS :evil:

That said, I have picked up two VERY lucrative combat missions and one moderately paid mission. The two big missions required me to take down a Federal Dropship (easy once you get behind them and you can defend against their missiles) which netted me 290k, the other wanted me to take out an Eagle for 40k.

Check the bulletin board every time you dock to refuel/rearm/repair for these missions. They are normally single target so no worries about being outmatched even if you are out gunned or (technically) outclassed.

I'm staying around Eranin 4 at the moment for the combat zone - which is now high intensity BTW. 1,000Cr a kill but I haven't been able to string more than a few together before needing repairs.

Fighting in that combat zone does nothing for me. It costs so much to replace my ammo that I make a loss.
Opportunistic bounty hunting at the unknown signals is where I've been fighting, Bounty's are normally good for a few thousand so no problems with my ammo intensive load out.

If I decide to swap out my C2 cargo rack for an FSD interceptor thing I might go freelance system security. Either that or I'll go out to Freeport and pick up a load of combat missions from there.

Well I'm just going to see if I can upgrade a little bit more tonight......

Then take a trip to fed distress.....To see how she handles....Then maybe Freeport Nav beacon if I have time.....

If you are running with an all cannon layout that will be expensive......

Fired about 4 rounds when I had fixed......Saw the re-ammo cost and thought fuck that......

Now running with burst lasers and multi-cannons as back up......

I try to take everything down with the bursts first.....Mind you cant really get close enough to unleash the cannons...Not in fed distress anyway......

E.F.B seem to have some decent ships with decent pilots............

Could you do me a favour and try out the mining lasers? They should have extremely short range, but pack a punch if you're close enough.

I might just do that for a larf............

Last night I got my arse handed to me on a plate......

I was flying around looking for upgrades.....Could not find any (Quelle surprise).....Apart from my FSD.....So I slung that one in and not looking , but found out bit later it knocked my jump DOWN by 2 LY......WTF......

Anyway went to the nav beacon at Freeport and hung around for a bit of bounty hunting......Not a lot about....Then saw asp... coming my way......Scanned him...wanted...Just as that moment he opened up on me.....Gawd knows what he had but the shields went quick....I did a runner away till shields came back up and then went back.....After a while I took his shield out and was giving him some damage......Then I'm getting hit from behind....Strange me thinks...

It seems a bloody eagle had also taken a dislike of me.....Well trying to battle the two fookers I did not get very far....When Hull was at 15% I decided to GTFO.........

Going back to Freeport I get interdicted by some Scialion or sthg twat....Never had a chance at avoiding....Bloody escape vector was having a fit.......Anyway wallop he opens up.....A bit of ducking and diving and finally made it back to Freeport........

Close call that one...............
