Hello,
Yup, you've really got to pay attention to what missions you take now. Especially with the new mission types for 1.5/2.0. Before I take a mission I usually click the "Open Galaxy Map" button first, to check out if the mission is even worth my time. I also don't take multi-hop missions, unless I've got some time to kill on my hands and am not doing anything else. I also try not to do timed missions (cause there is no in-game clock on my Python's console ;) ).
My personal favorite mission is the "Rescue hostage" mission, where I find the guy, follow him out the station and then blow him up and he never releases the hostage. Then, there was this time where I was supposed to wonder the galaxy with cargo and would be notified at some random time where to bring the cargo. Was notified after nearly a hour (was just about to give up.) Went to the system. Checked all the ships in SC, no joy. Went to all the stations in the system and checked, no joy. Finally, gave up, went to the nearest CZ, shot a few NPCs and let the mission timer run out. Then brought the cargo to a station and sold it.

Have fun, fly safe. o7

Hi Falcon,

For what its worth there is a clock on the Galaxy map. Super dumb place for it, but you can check the time there.

On the hostage missions you have to bring down the shields, then shoot the hatch open or use a hatch breaker limpet. As soon as the hatch lets go the hostage tumbles out in a container. Now you can pick it up the usual scoop and hope way or you can use a collector limpet to grab the hostage.

If you want to read about my adventure with a "hold onto this and I'll let you know" mission, read my post titled "Stolen Poop, OMG" :D

Are these rescue missions definitely working now as last time I tried them a couple of months ago I liberated the required number of hostages, returned back to the station and tried to complete the mission only it said I had zero rescued hostages!!... checked cargo. Yep 7 hostage canisters all from the "Target" ship. Simply couldn't finish the mission so had to abort it in the end. Not tried one since.

Dear FD.......

Reporting bugs......

DO NOT try and jettison 2 items from your SRV......You will get a connection lost......

Lori tested as well and same thing happened.....

Bit of a bast when I was at a 35 extractor mining facility and there was platinum there.......

Only snagged 2 items....Ship was then full...So transferred two low value items to SRV to dump and Bam......

Connection lost....Bye Bye POI......

They still fail now and then, BUT all is not lost.

Take your newly found but seemingly unusable cargo to any black market and sell them into slavery

I think that are worth 5K each on the black market. Not exactly what you were hoping for but at least its something.

I know that mentioning this is be like yelling "Hi, Jack" to a an old friend in an airport but have you all looked at any recent vids for Star Citizen?

The planetary landing vid I saw was pretty impressive. Not to say that that monster is not bug ridden as well, but Star Citizen is an alternative to ED.

FD had better step up their game because the mission bugs and NPC AI and connection issues and other nonsense is really ruining the experience for me.

After holding onto my loaned sidewinder for as long as I could possibly justify (sinking more credits into it than I probably should have), I just bought a Cobra MkIII. I sure miss the speed and maneuverability, though - I never even traded out the original fixed pulse lasers (I could dial the cross-hairs onto a baddie without breaking a sweat). I guess now I get to have the same fun kitting out my Cobra!

Does anyone collect all their old ships, or do you just trade them in for the upgrade? I don't have the heart to sell my sidewinder. It's like a good ol' horse who deserves the peace of the pasture (or storage dock, as the case may be).

I collect all the old ones I liked to use. Which is basically my A rated Asp and A rated Type-6. I think the fact I keep those two expensive ships is the main reason why I'm only just getting a Fed Dropship kitted out. The Powerplant and FSD on the Asp combined are 10mil. Throw in all the other bits and it's quite expensive. I think I did the math and the ship itself is worth 20mil.

I previously posted about what a totally horrible day I had.

Today was a rage quit out of my own private group.

Since I am living at HIP 20524 now instead of HIP 16607, Mundigal and Apalok are just too far away to earn Empire merits.

So I did some looking around and found Heverduduna ( yea they take pre-schoolers and hand them alphabet blocks and the words the kids come up with are used for system names ) :P

So off I go to that place and its wall to wall Sirus transports and security. Its party time I say to myself

Ok 1st 5 transports vanish into a low energy wake just as I get into interdiction range. I target the wake and fly and fly and fly and distance never goes down. So I abandon that. I then interdict a Type 9 with an Elite rating and think "this is is going to be good" NOT. I use medium pulse lasers and the Imperial Hammer on my Courier. For those that are not aware, the Hammer is a rail gun that fires 3 devastating shots all at once. Its a kinetic weapon and best used against a ship after shields are down. I wear down the target's shields and hit it 21 times, 7 shots X 3 over the course of the battle. It was like I was throwing sand at a steel wall. Now when I fight an NPC I target the FSD as the AI is set to run at a certain point when hull damage is reached. So no FSD then no running away Chico :P Well this guy not only jumped out with no FSD but he also took off my shields and 30% of my hull. A type 9 can out turn a Courier?

Well ok, lost that one to. No worries keep at it.

Then 5 failed interdictions. I hit the button and the blue and red bars are about equal. The target starts to squirm and I quick set my speed to the middle of the blue bar so I have the best maneuverability and my blue bar is inching up and red bar is zero then in a split second my blue bar is 1 and red bar is full! HUH? This happens 3 times and the I lose, I go from a hard earned 90% full bar over the course of 30 seconds to an empty blue bar in less than a second. NPC wins. This happens 5 times in a row.

So I think NPCs win interdictions with no effort aka no % of win/lose that a player has to deal with, add that to the numerous AI/NPC bugs already stated, add in that most of the missions are bugged and they are totally random with no scaling to the players skill levels and it hit me. WHY am I playing this game? Oh wait its not a game its a simulation, a simulation of what? Beating myself over the head with a hammer or slow roasting my leg to how it feels?

Sorry but I am about to have a melt down and I needed to spew out an avalanche of cheese to go with my Whine!

NEVER just trade it in as you get hosed on the module values. Strip the ship you are about sell. Replace all the modules with the cheapest junk that will fit and get back all your credits at 100% value. Sell off everything on the hard points. Sell of everything that shows as "sell" button on the panel when you click it. Yes you can sell off the shields and leave the slot empty. Replace the thrusters last as the system is set up that you cant shift from the 5000 HP jet engine to the Gerbil on the wheel if the ship weighs too much.

The reason for this is because when you sell the ship as is you only get 95% of the modules value back. If you strip it down and down grade it, you get 100% of the value back.

I miss my Sidewinder, Cobra Mk III, Viper Mk III and IV and my Diamondback about as much as I miss an amputation with a rusty razor
