I just decided to say fuck it. And just left from ugriviri earlier today.

I also skipped shapley all together and am now parked in the lagoon nebula.

Eat my dust suckas and enjoy the lag.

If I keep this pace up I will be in sag a* by the end of the weekend.

Well, despite the servers creaking under the strain of 600 ships in one system, it all went well. I had a novice explorer as a wingman, and he was blown away with Shapley 1.

A fantastic community feeling about it all, and seeing all sorts of ships parked up together at the waypoint was brilliant. There's a T9 and an Orca along for the ride :D

I read in the chat several players claiming they were interdicted and blown up, but haven't heard anything else about it.

My current concern is how much time they are "wasting" exploring so close to known space. Hopefully they will speed things along with experience.
It's time to give this another go.

I know some (many) are flying in Open, so it's quite possible that some griefers decided to show up. The groups all seemed to go smoothly, other than some disconnections.

The first waypoint being close was deliberately chosen to kind-of ease people into it as we knew that some would be doing this as their first ever exploration. My wingman had only ever gone out as far as the Coal Sack. It's still close to civilisation, so if someone had an accident here, it's not far to nip back for repairs and get back out again. And Shapley 1 is cool :)

Next waypoint is 3800LY away, and between the final two is 10000LY, so there are some big stretches to cover at times.

I've been amazed how many people it has brought out to try exploring, how much excitement it has brought to them and how much information sharing has already happened to help them learn.

Me too and certainly different exploring with such a large group of people, twice last night I got wing invites and spent most of the time in full wings... I wasn't even trying to get in a wing.

I also found it a little annoying that the first waypoint was so close, but appreciate the reasons and after last night, fully expecting all sorts of things to be going on while at the waypoint, looking forward to getting back online.

One more thing that some might find interesting.

Get the current EDDiscovery and they have included the DW expedition, it also overlays your progress on the 2D maps...

I would say shapley is one of the cooler I have seen so far.
Better than lagoon , and the OMEGA nebula looks better from afar (it's largely black with blue and white interspersed)

Would have gotten a lot further today but was mostly goofing on surface.
Haven't lost a buggy yet but have had more than one "oh shit. Shit shit shit" moments.

I've been online the last couple of hours and people are spread all over within 300LY of Shapley doing local exploration. I've come across a system that might be a materials goldmine. Will be checking out the first few planets after a bite to eat. :)

Friday evenings meet was good fun, I had 2 disconnects trying to get in to land, but the sight of 8 or so ships in SC heading towards the planet was grand, didn't half light my screen up :) , nearly had to put sunglasses on lol

Just found my first 2 Polonium not far outside base camp 1.

Think I'm going start making my way to RV 2 this evening .

Fly safe
