SSD

Postby evovi » Mon Dec 21, 2015 12:14 am

Gonna go with SSD for my new machine - it will have a regular hdd in there for recording purposes - but my question is, anyone currently run elite from their root ssd? Not to bothered about failures as nothing of any importance will be on the pc - docs, photos, work etc will be on my other PC, and at £30 for an SSD... It's pretty much disposable

Thoughts please

I only have ssd's now due to the highly reasonably price. I run a monthly backup of the system. No issues at all.

I run it from my root SSD. It's the only game on it. Never had any issues.

I have all my games on a separate hdd dedicated for games, and operating systems on ssd. This is mostly because of a large steam library that takes space (1tb now).
I don't think that having ED on ssd would benefit that much, I'm assuming that the startup time will be lot shorter with ssd, but while playing the game I don't think you'll notice the difference.
I play on PC, in the Mobius PVE Eurasia group.

I have an almost identical Setup. Operating system on SSD with ED and games and all on a separate HD

Games and OS on SSD here, but did raid1 mirror. Shadowplay, itunes library and swap file on HDD.
I know you could raid0 for performance, but would prefer to have another copy to disable one on failure or corruption, though most SSDs are a lot more reliable these days.

I have something similar: OS and programs on SSD, all data on a standard HD. I get very good startup times.

I've had no problems with ED, but have had to upsize once and will have to again to accommodate the amount of software that I seem to be ever accumulating.

And it's all vital.
