Hi All,

Firstly I'd like to point out that I think Elite: Dangerous is a great game, so much so I backed it originally through Kick Starter as a Beta Backer.

However, I seem to have lost my "Mojo" in-game. This isn't a moan regarding the current faults within the game, more of a give me some ideas to reverse my current feelings and hopefully restore my "Mojo".

I had a short break from the game prior to Horizons being released, both because of the "Mojo" loss and due to Real Life commitments. Having now logged back in and given Planetary Landings a go, I still can't seem to find anything to get my teeth into.

In view of this I'm open to suggestions on what I could turn my hand to within the game to see if any of these suggestions reignite my drive to play the game more than I currently do.

My current assets, in case you're wondering are: -

Permits: -

Sol System
Beta Hydri
Achenar
Aloith
Vega
Founders World

Ships as per my Sig.

So over to you guys... Suggestions on a postcard :P

Thanks & Regards

Hey Engadine. I've been there too... wandering around in the game, not knowing what to do next. I imagine that it's happened to all of us at one time or another.

When I got bored a few months ago, I was getting tired of being combat driven and wanted to do something else. I went back to trading for oh... about an hour. Couldn't take the boredom, but that's just me. Then Sothis and Robigo came along, and I kept myself quite busy making long distance trade/smuggling runs for a while (long distance runs with pirates chasing you are much different). After that ended I took up mining. Spent some time researching how and where to do it, and what ship and loadouts to use. (You have the resources to build any ship in the game, so that's not a problem) I found that while A-B-A trading bored me, mining was active enough while still being a "chill" career in the game that I liked it! After a few runs in a mining Python, I was making around $7mil in 2.5-3 hours. Not as good as a solid trade run, but my attention didn't wander and I was having casual fun in the game.

I always keep an eye on the current CG's to see if anything catches my eye.

Right now I am enjoying a fair amount of BH, and playing a bit in the rover on the planet surface. I wish the bulletin boards were working correctly, so that I could get back to running more missions.

I have been chatting in-game with some of our newer members who are new to the game, and am having fun RES hunting with them and answering questions along the way.

Anytime that you and I are on at the same time, feel free to hit me up. We could hit a RES, do some buggy racing, or chat about what the heck we should do next. ;)

In these situations I've tended to head out into the black, you can take it slowly and drop in and out of the game as you see fit. When I've done this I've always found after a couple of weeks I'm pulled back to the bubble. With Horizons there is going to be lots of pretty places to visit now.

The other this I've done is bought a ship I can't really afford, then spent my time upgrading it, it's a bit like starting over but without loosing your progress.

And of course, there is always the 'Clear Save' option, lots of people do it.

Perhaps tie ED into something else, like a blog or making movies.

However, at the end of the day it has to be entertaining you.

I didnt think the Corvette is much better jump wise Pargyrak ? I had a fair go on one in Beta and the only way to get semi decent jump range was to class D everything then hope that the end system had decent outfitting to spec it back up again.

I'm 2 ranks off the required to buy one at the moment, maybe once I have ranked up i'll give it a go, and I guess there is always the FSB boost option.

No the jump range is not better but everything else is. So if you want a battle ship the Corvette is the one.

Hi JohnLuke,

Thanks for taking the time to reply.

I'm sure I'm not alone in getting this feeling from time to time, it just seems difficult to shake when it pops along.

Just feeling that what ever I turn my hand to that is game generated seems very much a grind at the moment. I suppose originally when I set out on my journey within Elite I was very much a trader, be that normal trade runs with periodic Rare runs thrown in here and there to make a change from the typical A - B - A and an opportunity to see some more of the bubble whilst doing them.

I then went off on my first Exploration trip which lasted around 3 months and upon my return started to join in with the Trading CG's and in between these work on my Rank and Combat rating.

I to keep an eye on the CG's, but some of these recently seem to be very much a grind considering the Tiers set and almost impossible for the Community to complete.

I've just made my way over to Raffery's Mobius to see if there's any Missions that take my fancy, however there's not a single one listed for The Order of the Mobius?

I might have a look into Mining to see if it helps get me out of this rut. Would you recommend the Python for it?

Thanks for invite to join you in game, I'll certainly keep an eye out for you on the Gal Map and possibly take you up on the offer.

Thanks for the reply Xebeth,

I have been thinking of taking a trip out into the black, but think it might best left until mid/late January to allow things to settle down regarding bugs/patches etc.

Like you say, you can drop in and out of the game as you feel like it.

I'll see how I feel nearer the time regarding that.

I don't think I have the heart to go down the "Clear Save" option, that grind might be the straw that truely breaks the camels back! :)

So.... it's been a flurry of activity over at JL's home station this weekend.

On Saturday I decided to sell of some ships that I haven't used in quite some time. I used some of the proceeds to buy an FDL that I **LOVE**.

Also.... I've been thinking about selling my combat python and one other ship, to fund a combat 'conda. I chatted with a happy 'conda owner on Saturday afternoon, and pulled the trigger this morning. :D

May I present to you.... Devastation:

Image

I've only made a couple of RES runs with her so far, but am liking what I see.

So... after it was all said and done, my fleet went from 7 ships down to 3. If I find that I miss the other ships, I've got the cash to build one or two. ;)

Here is my mining Python. The 5A shield generator along with the boosters gets it up to the power of the 6A that I would normally use in a Python. (more cargo space this way) You don't need to have A rated modules, but you want enough power to run the mining lasers non-stop if possible. She's setup for 5 collector limpets which helps with productivity. I like becoming allied with factions in 2-3 high-tech systems close to where I mine, then stopping by each one before and after a mining run to get BB missions for P rocks. They pay pretty well. ;)

Here are a couple of mining guides to get you started (if you decide to give it a go) One, other one

I can help you with some good mining locations too, if you want. ;)

Looking forward to chatting or winging up with you in game! :D
