Should Mobius be pure PVE?

Thank you for all the effort you've put into this group. Without Mobius I doubt that I would be enjoying ED half as much, as I would probably be spending 99.9% of my time in Solo.

I am all for 100% PvE, but I understand the complications. FD, unfortunately have not provided us with a PvE flag that would make it impossible for commanders to shoot each other. Also, then comes the problem of how to deal with ramming.

Right now what we have is a gentlemens (and ladies) agreement that we will not shoot each other. Maybe this agreement can be carried into CZs. I for one will never fire on a red CMDR in a CZ on purpose. But accidental shootings may still occur. Happened once, tried to contact the CMDR but he/she had waked and did not respond.

My opinion. PvE in Mobius Group. Keeps it simple. Too much confusion (well, for me at least) over zones and all that. You wanna fight players? Hit the Open button.

Since I'm a n00b, I probably don't even understand the full implications but as I wrote in my introductory post when I registered here I joined Mobius because I wanted a harassment free experience. For me that means PvE only, with the exception of CZs since after all they are CZs and most of the time a trader/explorer has no business there. If someone wants a fight, well, the previous posters already said it: go to open play or create your own group with friends. Very easy, no reason to complicate Mobius' rules.

As someone who recently made a mistake and destroyed a fellow Mobius player in a non CZ zone, I am up for PVE only. Saves muppets like me from mistakes.

Just to add, even if I am in a CZ zone, I will not fire upon a fellow Mobius player. I learned my lesson.

Well Gents,

I figured I would offer my opinion on this matter. The main reason we are all here (well most of us) is because we've either been a victim of some A-Hole, or have read or been told horror stories of people who have been victims and do not wish to suffer the same fate. My preference is PVE, always has and always will be. I avoid CZ's in the group for this reason, and below is my reason why.

I'm old enough to realize that when I play to have fun, it does not involve PVP in any form. For this particular game I want to pilot my ship around the galaxy, trading and blowing up NPC's. The only time other players factor into the equation is when I want the camaraderie of taking on NPC's with others who share the same goals. Or trading together to get bonus monies... whatever.

Before I joined this group I was in another group of just two members, myself and a friend. It was better than open, so much better, but even still it felt lonely. Space was empty when it should have had real people in it. But the small minority (who were very vocal and aggressive) made a large impact. I avoid OPEN because to me, it is a sewer of people who behave like animals. No respect, no considerations, no chill. Kill or be killed, there's no middle ground. This is just my opinion.

To put it plainly, hiding behind the excuse that Open PVP is an aspect of the game, is scummy juvenile and disgusting behavior. ESPECIALLY when the victim has put hours, days, weeks (and months even) into the ship they've dreamed of piloting only to be greeted with a buyback screen and an empty credit account.

Let's use the example that this person did not have extra money for buyback simply because he was new and didn't know better, probably felt safe because he earned his living and his ship by bounty hunting in RES/doing missions. He never let his shields get too low and got out quick when he ran into trouble.

So someone ran into him in a RES, saw him oblivious to anything that wasn't an NPC and decided to pounce. Why? Probably because someone kicked this persons dog, or ripped him off with a high insurance bill, or his GF dumped him. Whatever the reason, the deed was done. And now our PVE'er is reduced to a Sidewinder to start all over. A valuable lesson was learned, but it was a hard lesson. Will this person come back from it? Who knows, but his enjoyment of the game was just given a massive blow.

I've been blown up by players (not in this group) and I've played other space sims where it was worse (EVE).

I don't play EVE anymore... I cannot deal with bullying in any form and then having people laugh about it all over the internet makes it that much worse.

I kind of appreciate that there is one part of the game where PvP is allowed under strict conditions where we can meet each other in unplanned conflict while still showing some respect. But then, I don't play on mobius so much to avoid all PvP as to avoid all assholes. Maybe I'm weird.

I can understand that if you enter a CZ then you've got to expect to get shot at, whether that's by an NPC or a human player.
It also seems to be related to Power Play, which I don't do, so I've no real interest in entering these zones anyway.
So as far as I'm concerned Mobius is effectively PVE only and I'm fine with that.

After being destroyed by another Commander (in a wing of 3 mind you) within 10 seconds of choosing a side at the current community goal CZ last night, i have decided to only go to CZs in solo mode.. and that's a shame for a PVE group, its either PVE or not, in my opinion there should be no in between.
