Got interdicted by a Viper now, submitted successfully, chaffed, run, and the beast just grilled Hoppy almost instantly with rails and beams! And that even when heading not towards the station but at quite another angle!

Now I equipped the taxi with A shields and thrusters not to waste any more precious time, and guess what, it has become a bloody snail with 22LY range. I almost am about to take my Vulture!
BAH!

EDIT Update

Got interdicted AGAIN, failed against an adder. Right when the "Safe disengage" message came up, so right in front of the station.
Adder remained peaceful, though. Now managed to land. Third try ...

Well the interdictions are not that annoying, but the Viper insta-Kill and the strange Mass Lock.
Oh and by the way, I got two Federal Ascension Missions in a row, one after completing the other, but still stall at Cadet. Is that correct?

You will get multiple. You have to do One, then refresh the board and the rest will disappear till you get another one at the next level. I usually wait till the Rank Missions give me a simple Haul. Once they start appearing, they will continue till you complete one. Only One Counts. So you take it, and when you return to hand it in, you will see there are still rank missions. They don't count. Hand in your mission, and the next refresh, the rest are gone.

I heard about that, but in this case, the ranking mission came up after completing the first one, and it wasn't there before completion.

I believe so, maybe the new ones will one and I certainly hope the old ones could get them down the line.

Is this damage you can see yourself with the debug camera?

I believe all ships have damage models that other players can see. I know I've seen Hengist's Cobra all shot to shit . I've never seen any damage on my own ships, but believe me I know it was there.

My understanding was that you can see basic ship damage (bullet holes and beam scars) but they are not persistent through supercruise. The 'conda seems to be a special case, though. When under fire, you can see internal explosions and its body deforming well before it actually pops - even for NPCs.

Whoa. What a mission. Kicked an Anaconda for ranking up and the beast blew my canopy ... when I returned, I entered the slot at something like 30 seconds remaining. This Vulture is a sub-optimal built out of need, so E Life Support and such.

in other news, made it from Recruit to Petty Officer in the evening, and that is something like two hours. Some seem to have "stacked" since I never ranked with the Feds, the rest I got through Donation missions. And all for that Corvette ...
