A bit about me I first played Elite on my Uncle's BBC Model B many years ago (yes, I'm a 'mature' gamer), and loved it, then on the C64 where I got to Deadly, and remember destroying the Constrictor. I did play the next two games as well, backed E:D on Kickstarter and joined at standard beta. Looking forward to Horizons and future expansions.
So, why PvE? Since starting playing on the Beta, I've played in Open, accepting the risks, although I did consider joining a PvE group a few months back, but decided to plod on in Open for a bit.
I tend to play on my own (no one I know plays), and have limited play time, so I want to enjoy that time, have fun and avoid being annoyed. Being interdicted by a (player piloted) Python and Viper while carrying probably 300k worth of cargo in an Unarmed Type 7, and being blown away isn't really my idea of fun, and is quite annoying. I would probably be more understanding if I was carrying a a valuable cargo, or had a bounty, but I didn't. I'm not entirely sure what the pirates get out of blowing away an unarmed transport, but yay them! Of course, I understand that's the risk of open play, and until now have accepted the risk - resulting in a few similar incidents which also took the fun out of the game for me. So, PvE it is for now while I try to make some progress and get some cash reserves behind me.
Mini-rant over.
Cheers
