Same here. I’ve been trying to get Fed naval missions as I need to get up one more step to try the FAS, but so far, no luck. So I keep alternating with compromised nav beacon hunting to increase my combat rank (70%, now).

Very nearly bought one the other day, but stuck to my plan of getting back Delphyne, still very tempted though.

I've flown the gunship but not the assault.....At least I don't think I have.....

But I really wanna get enough dosh to max out a Python and keep my Asp and still have a healthy bank balance....

Currently tying my hardest to earn a Promotion Mission for Chief Petty Officer, seems to be taking an age.
Anyone got any tips?

oddly enough, it was smuggling from Sothis that gave me whatever i needed for that rank - i did two runs and when i returned home to LHS 317, the progression mission was waiting for me at the boards. delivered some junk to LFT 824, rank increased, Assault Ship bought.

On my way home for the last week or so now. Parked in Prielo LB-O D6-3 for the night.

13k ly to go to Skadjero by way of Orion Arm. After 4 months of exploring in this game, I will be glad to get home! I keep an excel sheet of my travels and I will have almost 98k ly by the time I get back sometime next week. I will probably run into the side of the station it's been so long!!!

Missed Lady Jayne too much. Flew Agni from Cubeo to Azrael and picked up Lady Jayne. She feels much better after some R&R and pampering. Then headed out to Sothis. 500ly later (nearly 200k exploration data, heck yeah!!! ), got to Newholm station only to find that there were no Smuggling missions at all.
After taking a short hot-chocolate break, checked the BB and found one to smuggle goods to the Outpost next door. Decided to take it, went to the outpost. There I took 2 missions to kill pirates in the system over which payed out a total of 1.8mil. Finished 1st mission and then called it a night.

Flew a short sortie into a compromised nav beacon for the first time, blew up some deadly ranked pilots before I had to fly off to recharge my battered shields. I think I saw another Mobius CMDR there, but was too busy getting used to my radar not telling me who was shooting at me (no idea why my own ship doesn't register who's shooting me). Took on some below average pay courier and smuggling missions (about 90k per shipment), I didn't come across any well paying jobs in the BBs. All in all I think I made about 1 million in the 3 hours I played, no single percentage increase in any of the three ratings.

It often happens that ships shooting at you don’t register on the scanner. Still not sure if it’s a bug or a feature (in some cases they seem to be silent running, which might explain it).

Same here at a HazRes, before 1.41. Attackers were neither red nor did they blink, but did show up as ordinary orange rectangles/triangles (don't remember that).
Oh and did anybody else become wanted after shooting an attacking NPC who was not wanted (but attacked you in the first place)?

Oh #2, does Silent Running work against NPCs now?

Well, I'm having all the luck today

Last night I finally got the Mission from the Fed Navy for promotion to Chief Petty Officer. I grabbed it with 12 & Half hours to run and thought I'd call it a night.

Got up this morning, fired up the PC to discover the Thursday maintenance was over running. Not a problem, plenty of time to go out and grab the 1 Ancient Artifact the Feds are after for my promotion. Frontier finished their tweaks and oiling of the wheels so off I go.

The RNG Gods were looking down on me, as the first Weak Signal Source happens to be full of around 8 Ancient Artifacts

Line up to scoop the first when all of a sudden the room goes quiet, my screens go black and the PC just powers down

Turns out my PSU decided to call it a day, luckly I still have the 650W which I took out just over 18 months ago to fit the replacement 850W and I'm back up and running, although the 12 & half hours are now up and the rank up mission has failed.

Oh well...

Back to grinding some more to get the Fed Navy Mission to show again.

Bumping up my rep with federation factions, able to get multiple missions hunting pirates in the next system. Last night I had 5/6 hand-ins after destroying just 6 pirates each paying 50k plus bounties. (It's nice that a kill counts for as a kill for each mission!)

Hope to get access to some higher paying hauling missions soon or a few more smuggling missions would be nice.
