Rare goods) and you get a jump range where you can jump very quickly to a system that gives good profit. Great for exploration as well with the best cockpit for visibility in the game, I think. And it can hold its own in combat. Like the big ships its slow to manoeuvre so you'll have to learn to use Flight Assist Off mode.

I've thought of outfitting one for Trade when and if they ever build the station in the nebula https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=186120

What's the Asp's cargo capacity?

I was in the same boat as you at one point when I was contemplating on upgrading my T6. I used the T6 to do bulk trading as well as trading rare goods. After reading some posts here and on https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=99550, I picked the Imperial Clipper and outfitted it with 224t cargo space.

Note that Imperial Clipper requires Empire rank of "Baron" to purchase (if I am not mistaken).

It does require Baron.

Hello,

My path was:
Sidey
|
Adder
|
Cobra, Asp, Vulture, Courier
|
Python

I used my Asp for combat, but didn't like the way it handled. Then I decided to go specific ship for specific role, so got the Courier (cause I lied the looks and packed a bigger punch than my Cobra) and Vulture (everyone keeps saying how good it is in combat, so I had to give it a try, made me lazy :) ). I used Terralain (my Asp) for trade running. She was especially good at rare trade routes.

Now with Lady Jayne, I've hauled 292T cargo for trading (no shields). Currently running a rare trade route with her, fully shielded and packing a punch. Have to do alot more jumps, but I get to improve my Explorer ranking. :)

Have fun, fly safe.

I currently own four ships, my exploration Asp, a combat Vulture, my multi-purpose armed trader Python and a free Imperial Eagle that I haven't been to collect yet.
I did run a T7 for a while because I couldn't quite afford the Python. Since setting up the Python I fly it almost exclusively, in fact it's so good in combat that I'm thinking of selling the Vulture. I'm keeping the Asp though, for when wanderlust sets in again.....

From a pure trading perspective, I went from the T-6 to Asp to T-7 to Clipper to T-9

The T9 is great for flogging a safe high yield route between systems, but right now the smuggling missions are more lucrative. The Asp is pretty much the ideal ship for smuggling thanks to its range. I kept the Clipper around as a armed mining ship, and will probably pick up a python to do armed transport (as the T9 cannot do this).

Oh, btw, if you have the cash for a Clipper but not the Empire rank, buy one this weekend. They are rank free the whole weekend!!! You may have to buy it in Achenar, however, not sure.

An Asp can take 88 tonnes of cargo when equipped with a class 5 shield generator, a detailed surface scanner and an advanced system scanner.
Smoke me a kipper, I'll be back for breakfast.
