Hello everyone

Postby dreamreaper » Tue Oct 13, 2015 6:25 pm

Hello all,

I am very new to the game, only about 20hrs into it, but I am having a lot of fun. I have stuck mainly to just solo mode so far, as no real want to do pvp. Was watching a stream last night and heard someone on there talking about this place. So I decided to take a look around. Seems like a great place, and just what I have been looking for!!!!

After reading a bunch of stuff on here, I am certainly leaning towards starting over!!! I am about 150 light years from the starting area, but I didnt know you could scan all that stuff a long the way. Sure would have made for some good money a long the way. Plus I bought a ship, and I am not really sure its what I want to do. I wanted to be a bounty hunter, but now after playing, I am leaning more towards wanting to do some trading and mining to start off. Still debating the re-do but I think thats what I am going to do.

I am using the x52 flight system, not sure how good it is, I bought it about 6 years ago and have never really used it. So far it seems to work good in this. I also picked up a trackir and pro clip this morning, and am still trying to get that dialed in.

Anyway, I hope to see some of you around!!!!

Welcome Dream. I have an X52Pro and its fab. No headtracker yet, but Birthday is coming ;)

No need to re-roll. What ship do you have? Hows your Credit situation? Give us a little more idea what you like, what you have, and we can maybe point you in the right direction.

Welcome to Mobius, commander Dream.Reaper!

I also have an X-52 (pro version) and *love* it! It's a fantastic HOTAS for E-D! :D

As Loriath said, no reason to restart the game. You can sell your ship and get something that suits your game play style better. What ship do you have, and how's the ol' bank account? (in-game, of course ;) )

Feel free to add your name to the In game friend list thread and check out our TeamSpeak servers to easily chat with, and possibly wing up with other commanders. Also, make sure to check the Policy page if you haven't already.

There is a lot of great info on the message board, and we have compiled a long list of Tips and Tricks to help new players acclimate to the game while having fun.

Thanks for the information!!!!

I currently have a Eagle with some minor upgrades, most of it to make longer jumps. I have around 48,000 credits and I am in the Ngarabal System.

I also sent in my request to join the group, that is if I hit the right one.....lol

Take a look at the Bulletin Board Missions. Smuggling Missions pay quite well, and hauling can be lucritive without the worries of being fined if you are scanned. To avoid scans, entering stations as fast as possible (and using Silent Running but watch your heat) If you want to get into smuggling, you might want to look at a hauler instead of an eagle. It can hold more. It is more dangerous because it can't really defend itself. Once you have enough cash, you can grab a cobra and start getting a lot more money with Smuggling.

I have an Side Winder, Imperial Eagle, Imperial Courier, Cobra, and a Vulture. I have about 10mil in the bank. All of this has come from smuggling. The Cobra is the best ship for Smuggling, but it can be done in anything, including the big ships if you can get it in the station in a hurry.

Once you have a ship that can haul some cargo (say 16T or more) then you have a lot of possibilites. Smuggling, trading, rares. But you can also go into Assasination missions as well, and the Viper excels at that. The Eagle is quick, but it is lightly armoured and lightly armed. But its a HUGE blast to fly. I love my Imperial Eagle.

With a small cargo size, you can make some good starter money. 4T will work you up fairly quick. The Eagle starts with a 2T cargo, but you should upgrade it to a 4T in order to maximize your money.

You can use a site like Coriolis to see how you can build up the ships and see what it will cost.
Any questions, please do ask. The Teamspeak Server is great for help as well.

Depending on your timezone, I am sure that there are many of us that would be willing to Wing up with you and give you a hand to get your rolling. I am in GMT+2 in Europe. I play most evenings around 7-10 GMT. Be more than happy to Wing up with you.

Thanks for all that information Loriath. I will for sure try upping the cargo rack on the Eagle and hope that opens things up a little more.

I am in the Eastern US time zone (GMT -5) but I work construction and with winter coming, we will be slowing down, so outside of spending time with the wife/kids I can pretty much be found at any hour.....lol
