On another note, what will you do with the old one? If it's for the bin maybe think of offering it out for tweakers to buy and make a couple creds back.

Yeah I had a look inside. As it is old it is running with potentiometers and I hoped that I could change it myself. But if I am honest, while it is possible and do-able I want more switches so I don't have to use a keyboard for anything other than having to chat with. With my current stick I can do most everything, but it would be great to not need the keyboard at all for flight use.

I have found the X55 good for that. There is even one knob I'm not using, and you can switch profiles on the fly.

I can't use sticks myself, I tried to use one once and it was messy. It's buttons all the way for me so when I can afford it I'll be looking at getting a cyborg command pad type thing.

Just a quick question.
Are you using combined buttons or shift buttons?
In ED you can press multiple buttons during binding.
For instance I use a couple of regular buttons on my throttle to give a 4 way hat into practically two.

I like for instance having to push two buttons to boost (really cuts down the amount of times I boost erroneously in stations)
And I have one of my hats bound to ui navigation but with a shift button the same hat deploys landing gear, drops chaff and heat sinks etc.
This is all done in the game.
Obviously having a stick and throttle with a lot of buttons and hats is pure awesome and your current setup certainly has earned a reprieve from many years of service :)
I could also recommend giving voice attack a shot the free trial let's you do quite extensive testing.
I would have bought if I could just remember my bleeping PayPal password. .

Hey I'm Thor -
People call me Bob.

Rule 1: Pillage. Then burn.
Rule 2: No such thing as overkill, as long as there are reloads.

If you are asking me, no, I don't use combos.
