That's cool, I tend to bail out way before I suffer that much damage. This will make the game more interesting, with having to manage power better.

I was told that Chaff doesn't work against AI as they use static weapons and chaff only works against gimbled weapons...

Yes, but AI's use Gimbals, and Turrets. Chaff does work against the AI you have Targeted and is Firing at you as far as I know. It does not work against ones that you have not Targeted.

I may be wrong, but if I am, then dump the Chaff and point defence for another Booster.

Also, can I ask about weapons. Everyone seems to be using Pulse or Beam Lasers and I don't see anyone using any of the big cannons or rail guns. Can you only really use these effectively on big ships like the Python and Anaconda?

Absolutely, but they take a LOT of power and generate a lot of heat, so they don't get to fire as often.

I have seen a lot of Vultures fitted with a Large Pulse and a Medium Railgun, or large Cannon. Depends on how you play it and what you feel comfortable with. Rails are great, but better be a good shot as they are fixed. So Are Plasma Accelerators. Cannons come in all flavours. Nice Bug Bang, but Slow Firing Rate, do Nothing on Shields.

My current setup on the DBS is Beam Laser to take out the shields and once they are down I fire my Medium Multicannons for hull damage. When they are reloading I hit them with the lasers again and back to the multicannons.

With the setup on the Vulture now, will I be running out of weapons power pretty quickly even if I power distribute all power to the weapons?

I tend to get close to my enemy so thinking I might want to try something that takes out shields and then big bang weapon, even if its fixed.

I have a A rated Power Plant and A Rated Distributor. With 4 pips to weapons, I can fire my 2 Gimbaled Large Pulses 96 times till the Capacitor is Empty.

Works for Me :)

Hmmm ye good point. So with a 3C Gimbled Cannon the damage output looks to be the same as with just 2 Pulses but the benefit is you never run out of ammo.

This will sound like a very noobish question but what weapon does the most damage per hit?

Either PA or Rail. Depends, since the Rail will go through a ship lengthwise, so it can in real world do more damage. Think the PA will do more to Shields.

Not sure which would be better with shields down.

Ok cool. I'll have a play with this tonight, see if I can actually create it and in the future I'll play around with different weapon setups.

On the coriolis site, is the DPS figure anything to go by? Because the setup for this Vulture is 8 DPS but my current ship has DPS of 14. Granted, the Vulture has double the shield and more armour.

Missiles are useless against shields, and if your shields are down on a Vulture then you're already in GTFO mode, so Point Defense is a waste of a perfectly good Chaff slot :) I can tell when my Chaff runs out on my Vulture, because I need to start using my SCBs because I'm taking 10x the damage :)
