I had the same button on mine go out. I had to go through Thrustmaster who had me go through a bunch of hoops like take a video of the problem and then before sending me a replacement, cut the USB cable on the old one and send them a pic of it.

LOL although I just spliced it back together and gave it to someone else who needed a HOTAS. But instead of waiting I just went ahead and got a X55 and haven't looked back. Gave the replacement T.Flight to my 11 year old son for ED and its perfect for him.

Button 5 is dead on my HOTAS X too - but it feels different to the other buttons (it moves but it doesn't click) so I think it's a mechanical problem, not software or a loose connection.

I had one do that. I pounded on it for a few minutes then shook the stick and it started working again.

I also had a problem with the number 5 button, but I am to late to return it. I bought it in Feb 2015. So I took it apart this afternoon, a screw on the button board had come loose and would no longer work. Lucky for me I am a fanatic about hoarding screws, I found one a tiny bit bigger that I used to replace it with. This will be a temporary fix because this is a design problem, So I have ordered some parts and I am going to glue a 4 way button on the top of the throttle.

Losing button 7 now. It's becoming very flaky in operation.
