It has been exactly one year today since CMDR Mobius proposed the idea of a dedicated PvE group!
A small band of old time Elite fans at first, who prefer a cooperative over a competitive game, with growth rates of less than 10 new members a day, it quickly became the number one address for new players, trying to get a footing in game, or more casual players who don't have the amount of free time to spare, so a loss of 10+ hours progress would be acceptable just to feed someone else's "gaming fun" needs.
Influx stayed like this during the Betas, but on official launch the 16th of December 2014 the group growth rate really took off. Since then we have had an average of 1.000 new members each month! A number none of us would have dreamed of at our humble beginnings. (I remember our small bets if we would hit 1.000 by Christmas 2014. We very much overachieved!
)Now we stand at over 11.000 members! And the rate of new commanders joining every day is breathtaking.
And this was achieved only by word of mouth of our members. There are probably still many commanders out there who have never heard of us, as they are not active here or on reddit. We have many examples of commanders on our site, who actually wanted to leave the game alltogether and stayed because they found our group. So help spread the word: If you haven't found a fun game within Elite: Dangerous yet, try our group! The most friendly and fun bunch of commanders in the galaxy. (And the largest group!
)The popularity of our group shows one thing: There is a huge demand for a pure PvE style gameplay within Elite: Dangerous.
Now if Frontier would only have some pity on poor Mobius and give the game some decent group Admin tools!
(Or have an official PvE grouping mode, as our group is the "official PvE mode" already.)As far as we can tell, most of our members use the group only occasionally, depending on their gaming mood. But there is also a huge number of commanders who play in Mobius exclusively. Most of them are very active over at our dedicated Forums on http://elitepve.com, so why don't you come over and have a look. You can find a lot of useful information over there, many helpful commanders, a very friendly atmosphere, and many new friends to play the game we all love so much!
The group also runs it's own dedicated TeamSpeak server with 400 slots, has a Facebook group, an official Twitch and YouTube channel, a steam group, a google+ page, and is active on Twitter. Information on that on our site.
