Wtf...?

Postby Shelleen » Mon Oct 13, 2014 12:27 am

What's happening with the Nav Beacon/low level intensity conflict zones?

I was quite happily scanning for wanted ships in the NB and destroying any that came my way when all of a sudden I was "Under attack". It was a Security ship (Viper) who was clean attacking me (I was clean). Despite letting the Viper land his shots he was still clean, as was I. Being PO at his/her attitude I decided to blast him to the netherworld. The first shot I landed I was flagged as wanted. I canned his arse nonetheless but then had all the security ships turning red and attacking.

I SC'd out of there and headed to the main station.

Upon arrival I was scanned and then attacked by the security surrounding the station. Granted my status was now 'Wanted' so I can understand their trigger happy response but that's never happened before.

I Sc'd out of there to a satellite station where I docked and paid the fine and collected my 18,500 cr bounty for destroying the wanted ships/pilots. Go figure...

After thinking about his I decided the best option was to go to the low intensity FDS in Eranin and shoot some Fed ships. Mistake!

After selecting Eranin as the faction (despite their attitude to me) I came across the first Fed ship and opened up. Only after a few on target salvos did I notice I was firing on an Anaconda?! Anaconda in a 'low' intensity conflict zone? Before I could get to grips with that a second Anaconda opened up from behind me and despite pips to shields and boosting it took all of three seconds to wipe me out at the cost of 25,000 credits.

I'm pretty sure Elite just got a whole lot more dangerous. Or, yet again, I am so wasted as to not notice what's going on.

Take your pick.

You're really not making the choice easy... :)

Hell I don't know. The first part sounds bugged. Getting attacked while clean, and getting a wanted status for retaliating.

The second part. Well. I don't know what to think Shelleen... ;)

Ive read about this bug on the forum. And also if you go to an resource extraction site and attack wanted NPC. You become wanted instead and all the fed and security ships turn against you.
It have made so I don't do fighting at all and now when the exploring is so bugged there is nothing for me to do.
Il hope it will be some sort of patch today so at least the exploring will work again.

Ive taken some serious beatings recently in the conflict zones ... they are a total nightmare for me to even get a kill at the moment.

Also all the npc's have been getting the last shot in, so all my work goes to waste.

Its chaos in there.

Im giving them a wide berth until maybe B3.

I've been mostly bounty hunting at USS and resource extraction sites, these days, and it has happened only a couple of times that I got hunted by security ships (and each times I suspected that one of them had gone between my target and I and collected a couple of my cannon shots).

That being said, they're easy to escape from, in a Viper, and I was only a jump away from a station where I could buy myself a clean record. So it was never a big problem for me.

What I've seen a few times in USS, though, is Anacondas that didn't read as wanted but opened fire on me with missiles without turning red on the scanner.

I hope it is a bug as it's crackers right now.

I was in a Nav Beacon last night scanning ships and found a wanted Type 6 so I took it out. All the other ships there turned red, about ten ships in total including two Authority Anacondas. How is a poor bounty hunter supposed to make a living like this?

I'm guessing that when the bounty hunting permits come in this won't happen anymore.

I also realised that there are going to be far more opportunities to lose reputation with different factions than gain it, if combat is your thing. I think the odds are going to be stacked against you ultimately making Elite very dangerous indeed
