Destructible Outpost and Hubs?

I recently noticed when targeting a station that it shows hull percentage. I've seen some with 44% hull.

I suspect stations are currently invulnerabe to avoid unintended consequences with particular impact with trading. Will stations be destructible in the game eventually? With station destruction comes station building, naturally. This opens up a whole new dynamic in gameplay with impact on missions, trading, influence, etc.

This could be a game changer if all the aforementioned considerations are accounted for and tested thoroughly. Think clan built and owned stations. Pirate hideouts. Restaurant at the end of the Universe :evil:

that could be a bug as i remember from back in the beta where major objects like station and planets displayed a hull percentage of the last item targeted, i once had Lave down to 23% but i ran out of ammo ;)

considering the amount of bugs that have resurfaced after being previously fixed it wouldn't surprise me if this was more of the same and as such will make no difference to gameplay.

I doubt very much that you will have stations being destroyed for the simple reason that the game is played in instances. it just wouldn't work, imagine a group of players in one instance blowing up a station and the thousand of other players in solo, private and other all instances suddenly see a station vanish for no reason because players in a different instance blew it up.

nope aint gonna happen.

I have noticed that stations with lower than 100% hull always have donation missions. The faction in charge of the station will want and ask for 10k to 250k to help repair the station in exchange for high rep.

This is something I'd love to see. One thought I have is some kind of makeshift station (perhaps only in that instance but might somehow remain peristant after saving) that you and wing mates could dock at in deep space. A bit like a large external dockable beacon where you could use as a kind of base on exploration trips. It could perhaps be inflatable so it could be transported by smaller ships, visible in supercruise and destructable. Fuel could be left there and maybe provision for a few other basic amenities.

Yes. A player deployable dock that would require protection from players or risk being destroyed or stolen ... It could add more meta- game to those far out systems

I wouldn't want to see destructible outposts and stations - at least not by player ships.

I would, however, like to see them be able to be damaged. If you shoot at one, you should probably be destroyed pretty quickly, and I assume you are if you try, based on what I've seen happen to NPCs. But you should still be able to cause some damage. I'd hate to think of the repair bill if you crashed into a control tower and took out two stories. I'd say no insurance for that, and it wouldn't be cheap. But as it stands now, you can't even knock over a light pole.
It's time to give this another go.
