I suspect stations are currently invulnerabe to avoid unintended consequences with particular impact with trading. Will stations be destructible in the game eventually? With station destruction comes station building, naturally. This opens up a whole new dynamic in gameplay with impact on missions, trading, influence, etc.
This could be a game changer if all the aforementioned considerations are accounted for and tested thoroughly. Think clan built and owned stations. Pirate hideouts. Restaurant at the end of the Universe
