Lets get political - An open discussion on Powers and Factions

Postby StaticRadion » Sun Jun 14, 2015 7:29 pm

Do you fly exclusively beneath the flag of the Alliance, Empire, or Federation? Are you a supporter of any cause personal or professional? Have you backed one of the ten elite powers that have taken known space by storm? If so this is the place for you to promote your cause, beliefs, and ideals. Lets hear for what or whom you represent and why.

The rules:

1) Punching and kicking as allowed but try to keep everything above the belt.
2) Try to fight for your cause without bashing another.
3) Represent yourself as an ambassador to your community.

*Starting an new discussion on an old topic because of how far the game has come since launch*
*I know this should probably be under factions and powers but I didn't know the best place to put it*

Wow no one wants to fire the first shot. Well I guess we will just let this one die and never speak of it again.

LOL - Let The Lion walk where others fear to tread ;)

TBT when I saw this thread earlier I was tempted, but decided to actually make a long-considered commitment before posting. I was flying when you 'threw up the white flag', maybe something I should have expected from a supporter of such a shallow pseudo-capitalist as Li Yong-Rui (henceforward to be referred to as 'Wong-Wai' ;) )

So, I've just pledged to 'Big Zee' Hudson.

Not actually DONE anything for him yet, though. Parked up on one of his expansion targets, debating whether to purchase a disposable 'tranny van' or risk stripping down Merlin III, m'Cobra, for some shipping duties.

As I've said elsewhere, I'm expecting a new X-52 Pro 2moz so I don't want to get into anything too heavy until I'm happy with the set-up & use.

By NO MEANS am I a 'natural' supporter of anything Federal - I'm only slightly less averse to it than I am to the Empire. However I see Hudsons' tactics as being in tune with my plans for a decent payoff for my play-style. Plus he has the biggest patch to exploit & is the top-dog right now.

'nuff said for now.

Currently I'm at odds. I like Aisling's style, and I like Pranav's mission, albeit he sometimes seems shady. With time I'll make up my mind.

Yes, as most of you know I am a supporter of Li Yong-Rui for now, but first an foremost I am slave nor soldier for anyone. I am interested in looking out for the best interests of myself and my fellows.

When it comes to the Federation my corporate ties and trade expertise have lead to me being awarded the rank of Post Commander. In the Empire my combat prowess, generosity, and loyalty earned me the appointment of Viscount and the Alliance considers me an ally.

With my distinguished record I believed I was a perfect candidate to moderate such a forum, but maybe my current lack of patience and curiosity of others beliefs got the better of me.

Again I apologize for "throwing in the towel" early. Please take your time in formulating your answers and bring strong arguments to the table. I know I plan to post a more detailed cost evaluation of why I support Li Yong-Rui currently and where my loyalties will be shifted to in the future.

Independent!

As always...a little wary of politics.

Independent, not aligned to any major faction or power and I can't see that changing.

They may take our lives, but they will never take ... our freedom!

Independent... you say you are "Independent" but that don't support anyone. How about you choose one of the three independent factions in space and exert you influence as Commanders.

Not making a choice is just waiting for one to be forced upon you. Eventually there will be only one Federation faction, two Imperial factions, and a cluster of small independent factions huddled between them while the Alliance hovers above it all.

Systems may come under the authority of small factions that pledge themselves to a source of government but the Powers that be will eventually force you to choose a side or take action. I say you should not wait to take action till it is forced upon you. I say it is better to choose a side then make quips about freedom while you fly through the dominion of an individual.

When the void was populated by governments freedom was everywhere, but now it is as the European continent of the past, divided and owned.

Fight for your freedom!

I do not need to pledge myself to a power to assert my influence as a commander of the pilots federation. There is a great deal of good I can do in this galaxy without having to limit the space I can do that good in, or make arbitrary enemies for myself because the "powers that be" decide they want to embroil themselves in a pointless turf war.

And just because a Power may be independent of Alliance, Federation, and Empire, does not mean that those independent Powers are in any way representative of my ideals or motives as a pilot. I am Allied with every major faction, and it would be nice to stay that way.

You can keep your politics and power struggles. I'll continue providing punctual shipments of Palladium, and keeping pirates away from defenseless miners. ;)

Not skimping on any respect that the leaders of this Galaxy are due, of course. There are pros and cons to most every major power...

[Really, Powerplay just isn't my style, as of yet... and I'm not going to dump time, energy, and credits into something that I don't find fun.]

Well there is the *cough* special weapon and equipment access *cough* good fuzzy feeling you will get from taking a stand too.
