Want to head out exploring myself but going to wait for update and the new Diamondback. Will just keep trading for now.

I have to say, I made my first mil in exploration. Now I am headed back out. I really enjoy the black. Seeing new planets that no body has seen first. Enjoy folks and hope to see you all in the black.

Nearly 3k ly out now, heading roughly towards the centre of the galaxy. Finding plenty of undiscovered systems now, already picked up a few Earth likes, Water worlds and terraformable planets. It's early days yet, but it looks like being a profitable trip.

Now over 6k ly out, seeing some very interesting sights.
Here are a couple...

Cat's Paw Nebula.

Twin Earthlike worlds, you'd have a fascinating night sky on either of those!
Anyway, ever onward, still heading for centre of galaxy, not sure if I want to go the full distance though, it's a long way back!

I run about 650 out from Song Ku, I found a bunch of undiscovered systems. There are a bunch of systems, just have to head out to the black. I made my first mil in a single run last time. Over 6 planets that are terraformable(Spelling). One page alone was over 900k. I am in a fully kitted Asp, my jump is 27 unledan and 23.9 laden. Works very well. This means my drve, power is all a rated and I am fully armed. Always check your jump track to make sure you have scoopable stars. Do not want to run out of fuel, lol.
Enjoy the trip, it can be boring and exciting at the same time..

In all fairness, I travel 200ly without batting an eyelid, I can imagine that 800ly in exploring is peanuts.

I know that I'm not very far out yet but I remember hitting undiscovered systems around 500 ly out previously. I'm sure that the "bubble" of explored space is expanding all the time. I don't expect to settle down to any serious surveying until I'm at least a couple of thousand lys from home....
I do find it strange how many discovered but "unexplored" systems there are in inhabited space. Some have them have even got space stations, so how can they be unexplored? It doesn't make sense to me....

I've wondered about that well. I've noticed that on the local system view, there may be an outpost a couple of thousand ls out from the sun, out in the middle of nowhere, no planets. Get closer, do a scan and unexplored planets appear. What's that about?

I set out more than two months ago and I'm getting near to halfway home. I want to spend some time playing with the new content, but I get the feeling I'll start wanting to set out again.

I saw a mention of the T6 for exploring, I have seen some positive comments about it being used as one. I am looking to start exploring when 1.3 goes live. How do Y'all feel about it? (T6) I can see it from the cost angle and rare hauling.

The T6 is really under rated. Good range when Stripped, cheap wear and tear (something All the T series are good for), and GREAT views. If you want proof, see this post about the T6 Entry into the Buckyball Run to Sagittarius A.

Personally, I went out the first time in Hauler. FAB ship, bad Views. Made me over 10 million in a short time out there. I am waiting to see what the Diamondback can do when it arrives. Since 1.3 will allow extra fuel tanks, it may make exploring even easier for smaller ships.

I used to have a T6, that was the ship I had for my previous exploration trip. It's a very good ship, as mentioned above, and rather under rated. My current Asp is better as an exploration vessel, but it did cost a LOT more than the trusty old T6....
