Seeing how I'm on a budget.. this is my thought right now.. I'm very open for suggestions here. :)

Having two ships chained me to a location. I hated that. I would just make sure you know of a spaceport near you who has most of the ships and equipment you need. High Tech is a good place to look for it. Once you do: Just sell the ship you have and buy a combat ship, trader or explorer, whatever suits you best at that moment.

I hated being chained to Dvorsi. Now for instance I will be back soon doing the rare good circuit with a type 6. Nothing beats that trade route with a 100t ship. Or maybe I'm going to use an Asp, as you usually don't need more than 70t.

Soon I will buy a Type7 or go back to a Vulture or a Combat Asp (I'm curious to see if all the hardpoints are of any use against bigger ships) and do some pew pew again. And after that back to an Asp and jumping 30 ly away to explore and finally find that earthlike world :).

Oh and I officially hate Coriolis starports now. Second time the docking computer started bouncing in the letterbox like crazy pinball. Good thing I watch it closely... This time I just landed it myself.

Till now having no trouble with an ocellus starport.

Decided to stay with the vulture and have been flying round a nav point to test out my weapons, starting to like the ship now. I have one laser to strip the shields and then avmultincannon to finish them off. Both are gimballed as I was not getting anywhere with the manual system.

Boosting into the invisible dark side of an asteroid, losing my ship (approx 900,000 Cr rebuy) and accumulated bounties (also approx 900,000 Cr). :(

It's only a game...

i'm swapping between Op. Dullahan at Lugh in my Vulture and a 'Seeking Goods' grind in my new Python at Eravate*, trying to get some money to upgrade the Python to the point where she can hold her own against attackers. i made a little unarmed 29Ly Hauler to use as a shuttle between the two systems

*it's only about 250k profit per 190Ls one-way trip - it's not instant-rich like the Seeking Luxuries scandal, but it's steady and safe, being all contained in the one system. i'm not prepared to lose my new 56 million cr ship by taking her out into the open in her current D-grade state

Currently out on an exploration trip in my trusty Asp, the "Golden Hind" ( I decided I'm going to name my ships from now on)
I've been alternating with missions/trading in my T6 and exploring with the Asp.
Just did some upgrades to the Asp, got over 15 million credits invested in it now in it's explorer configuration. That's why I'm out now, giving the newly upgraded systems a bit of a shakedown cruise. Currently around 1,000ly from base, just pottering about looking for interesting systems to explore. I've already scanned dozens of high metal content planets, a dozen or so gas giants and a couple of water worlds. Not found an Earth-like on this trip yet. I'm not going home until I find one!

I've read up on and researched as much as I've found about exploration, but they don't answer the right questions. Sort of. Haha. I know the Asp has a large fuel tank (or small, if you want to reduce weight, whatever) so you can jump and jump and jump pretty far pretty fast before needing to refuel. Do you make it a common practice to scoop every scoopable star and have your tank stay 'topped off' or what? That's typically what I do when just making a 100LY trip from Fed space to Empire space, etc in my Cobra.
Have you ever found yourself at a point where you couldn't find any scoopable stars very nearby? I.E., just a pit of dwarf star systems, or something?

The Asp has an amazing range, that 32T fuel tank can take you over 1000ly in economy mode, and a couple of hundred or so in fastest.
I always top up at every scoopable star, just to be safe. The lowest I've ever gotten on fuel was around half a tank, after a run of dwarves and T-Tauri's. Got a 6D fuel scoop, so it only takes a few seconds to top up generally. The area I've been exploring has been fairly sparse as regards star numbers, but with my max range at over 32ly per jump it's never been a problem getting through.

Thank you very much! A little bit of "So what was it like, really?" goes a looooong way! :)

No problem.... it's good to share. I've picked up loads of tips from the forums, it's great to be able to pass some good stuff on.
