Thanks for the infos. Unlike CMDR Clivewil I haven't got a Cobra to sell ... but I got an ASP that I'm not too fond of. So for me it would "just" be the stock price to save up to. And when slaughtering ASP for the parts, I'd lack a multipurpose ship so after Vulture I'd go for good old Cobra again, for a bit of cargo space, ADS+DSS etc ... all in all not too bad of a progression, with achievable goals and no need to grind. :D

Bytheway, if you haven't seen the official Dev post https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=124528

In a minor update released before the end of the week we’ll reduce the price of non-trade ships and abolish the way fuel costs are scaled by ship type. What’s more, some of the smaller ships, like the Sidewinder will gain a powerful new advantage as their reduced profile makes them more effective for smuggling. These are minor changes but ones that dramatically increase the importance and viability of craft less suited to trading.

Suits me fine, thanks FD

Yeah, spotted that, there's also going to be a refund of the difference to those who already have bought non trade ships, phew ;)

To be honest, I'm not really diggin' the rebate for pilots who already own combat ships. Rebate for Vulture and FDL is fine and fair in my books, as these are released too close to the price reduction. What I don't like is rebating months-old Anacondas and Pythons. Like, you already owned them from beta ? Started with 200mill in December ? Took part in the "Luxuries-exploit" ? No refund for you, Sir !

It's like Playstation 4 owners, you simply don't get a refund if you were one of the first to buy one and now, months after, the price is going down ... oh, and how much was a Playstation 1 at release, how much is it now (nostalgia aside, pls) ?

So if you'd ask me, rebate Vulture and FDL, no rebate for Conda, Python, Viper, Eagle. :?

I'm with you on that score, i know there will be a lot of "why should they get refunds and not us", those with the Ana's had enough money to get one, probably have enough money to kit it out and the refund isn't going to make that much difference, unless they bring out a much bigger ship along the line

With Vulture price now at 4.9million I went to EDshipyard to plan how to build up my precious ... SHEESH! It's really hard to upgrade it and stay < 100% power usage, even with a 4A reactor. :o

Have to switch off some modules not needed when fighting, nothing new to a Viper pilot.

@ Harma: As I'm used to Fixed Beams and Gimballed Multis, how's the Burst Lasers doing when it comes to damaging hull / subs ?
Well, at least there's no need to reload ammo ...

I'm glad I never bother with a FSD wake scanner. They really draw some power don't they?

With the setup I posted, I'm not having to worry about turning any modules off. The bursts are quite good, results are..
Small ships - hold down fire, if it has a shield it'll maybe take a quick release when they overheat, another couple of shots and its done for
Medium ships (clipper, dropship, python) - target the power module, hold down fire. Takes two full charges of weapon power to get it dead
Large (Anaconda) - same with Medium ships, though may be 2 - 3 charges to destroy it

Hitting the power module on the larger ships means when that hits 0%, the ship will explode soon after, albeit after firing a couple of blasts from the lasers (even though they would technically have no power!!!)

Not sure of any other tactics, these work for me, I'm not worrying too much about hull damage as my shields haven't gone down too many times. If anyone has any other additions to that, please share, I'm raking in a fortune in bounties, only downside is using the kill scanner I've got about 500,000 to drop off in the Empire and Alliance space.

I've basically made about 7mill in the last couple of days just doing bounties at RES points. And that's not constant gaming, RL does get in the way sometimes! I know in trading you can do the same sort of numbers in one day of grinding, but I can hit a RES point for hours on end without having to dock for selling cargo, re-arming, re-fuelling. Thank god FD didn't put some sort of limit on your oxygen tanks, though who knows what they might do next huh!

They draw more power than shield generator but less than thrusters ... actually, I only added them as optional equipment, had a wake scanner once on my Cobra, used it twice then sold it. Kinda useless except for rare situations

Thanks for the info Harma, gonna check the burst lasers as soon as I call a Vulture my own. With weekend coming up, I'm gonna do some more RES hunting in my Viper. Asoora system, if anyone wants to drop by and wing up ;)
