So elite crashed to the point where I had to reset my pc. Came back in lost all my settings. No biggie I had the binds file backed up. As im going in and checking I hit the wipe save button, and for some reason I was thinking it was to wipe the saved control settings because its right there in the controls menu, so I hit confirm. Well.. no. Lost everything. Why would they even put in such a button? I have put in a ticket, but if I can not get everything back I will be taking a break for sure. Nice T6 parked, decked out cobra for bounty hunting 5 mil cred pocket money, and just started Imperial faction. All gone. There should be a CLEAR warning what that button does. Like a big flashing sign that says DO YOU WANT TO START OVER AND LOSE EVERYTHING YOU CURRENTLY HAVE? lol

Frontier continues to disappoint with their lack of documentation and assumption that you already know everything to know about gaming. Not so bad with early testing, but on a released game, they should be more considerate and more clear. <_<

Considering I still had an open ticket from two weeks ago, I do not have high hopes that they will resolve this soon if at all. I love the game so I know if I have to start over.. I will. I just want a faster yes or no to as if they can or will restore it so I can either get started over, or know just to wait because grinding for days again then they restore it.. lol just as annoying. In the end I know the mistake was mine. If they can not restore it, then lesson learned.

Resetting my PC when games go wrong is always a last resort with me. If my PC is playing up I tend to clean it out first (inside the case and its junk files etc). Now that I mention it, the dust is starting to build up now, I need to give it a once over. I`m sorry to hear about your troubles. Surely, FD will have a back up of your save to some certain point. They must keep backups of everyones saves every now and then just in case THEY mess up their side.

Yea I never reset my PC unless it is the last option. I was working with the target software for my Warthog HOTAS and adding to the script. I went in game to test it and that is what caused the lock up I think. There was no tabbing out or Killing it in task manager, everything just froze solid. I do hope they have some kind of back up. If I lose a few days then fine, but everything since day one is a kick in the groin. I'm over the initial disgust considering it was my own doing, just ready to get back to grinding. I miss my cobra lol

Commiserations, I'd be kicking myself if that was me and I do agree there should be some sort of "Are you really sure you want to do this and start back in a Sidey?" kind of warning when you've selected it.

I thought the clear save was in the Options section and not the Controls sub section? I remember when I saw it I didn't get the impression it was for clearing my bindings. Also @Roger Wilco Jr it is mentioned in the manual that this option is there and irreversible, so I disagree with you regarding their lack of documentation.

If you're around the Aulin area Tuesday I'd be happy to donate some goods to help get you back in a Cobra as I still shudder when I remember the numerous Sidewinder> Hauler> Cobra grinds.

You mean the manual that you have to download and was out over a week after the game was? Yea not seen it. lol After searching there have been several that have made the same mistake. You are correct on the location in the menu, however I just took it as to be a clear on controls. Never seen such an option to wipe everything in an MMO without a much more clear definition of what the option did. (password/user name needed to be typed to confirm) That being said Yea I f#$ed up. I do like the fact the game does not hold your hand, as I do not like "easy" games, was just a misunderstanding on my part. I thank you for your offer, think I am gonna give it a go again, because I doubt they will restore it. On the good side though, I will add that they did at least give me back my free eagle to sell for a quick 40k to get me back in a hauler faster to grind.

I empathise.

There should be more documentation. It's not right. I have friends who play on console (hate them if it makes you feel better ), and I've showed them ED and it's got them interested in getting PC, but when they go through the tutorials and then have a go on line and all the equipment gradings make no sense (letters going up and numbers going down(or the other way round)) it puts them off.

I don't know if I've made my point because I became ill during xmas and am just getting myself back.
