A star without a classification?

Postby Riboflavin » Sat Oct 10, 2015 2:40 pm

Hello dear explorers,

while exploring I have come across a star which is not labled as M, G, K or any of these classifiers. In the system map it is only classified as "Red giant star". I am using also the great add-on "Captain's Log" and log all of the systems/ stars I have visited. But there I didn't see any "Red giant star" either. Was this star just a buggy one, not displaying its classification?

I believe red giants come in as part of the 'M' category, occasionally, like in this case you get a red giant that is not very large at all. What does it say on the galaxy map?

Thank you for the fast answer, Feldspar! I actually did put it in my database as "M". So not totally wrong.
Great advice checking the galaxy map. There is it designated as M8 IVB.
Thanks again, Feldspar!
