Maybe the whole of backers should boycott the game for a few days as a petition on what could happen if they don't bring back offline mode. Or it could be that they knew that a lot of players would leave and its benefitting them because their servers can't handle all those players anyway. I'm just speculating but I doubt it very much that that is the case.

Well, despite bad PR about it they made, they now cannot afford to implement offline mode without online player authorization anyway (and online authorization need doesn't help guys with no/bad internet connectivity). It will make things just worse for FD and for the Elite game as well (offline without online authorization = high game piracy = less profit = less funds for Elite future development). I do not include increased development costs as they need to maintain two modes instead of one in future expansions. No one sane will do it now, so close to the release, boycott or not. Major damage was done already... :)

How many infractions does it take to get banned from this forum? I've discovered that on the Frontier forum it's 4.

Is that you banned then? As a mod I really should know the answer but I don't. I take it this has to do with the offline mode getting binned?

I was attempting to lighten the mood. I noticed that the word "wankers" got past the profanity filter so I stated that I would have to remember that next time Dice Man (major troll) posted. Honestly, moderators are so humourless.

I'm actually going to have to play the game for something to do now!

Ahh, the old sweary word, naughty boy. The big problem on the Frontier forums is there are people who are just constantly on the wind up. Glad to say that hasn't happened here.

Anyway back on topic, I'm still clinging to the hope that Frontier are going to change their mind but it's a pretty vain hope.

Welcome to the club.

Some of the moderators over there are insane.

Be wary though. When you return, you return flagged. A marked man, and you really have to watch your step. Take my word for it. :)

The last two posts on this link may be a large part of the reason they have removed offline play. Have never seen any mention of this before and was completely unaware that it had happened.

I've already returned. That's what pseudonyms, alternate e-mail addresses and dynamic IPs are for.

For my next trick, I shall be attempting to get banned from the launch premiere on Saturday night. Keep an eye on the twitch stream.

Just kidding.

Edit: Maybe

I'd like to see that. I'll be watching for you SJT. :)

Could you somehow get in front of the camera and moon a "Hey Glob" from your hind cheeks? That would be nice.
Or maybe just "FD stinks". Maybe that would be more appropriate, position considered.
