I crashed and burned an Asp landing at a planetary outpost. 1.4M up in smoke. Serves me right for going too fast, but I did not expect to lose altitude like I did. I crashed into the station and it opened up on me. The game can still catch you out.

Mine is the tale of a man turned trade-mad from the grind to Elite.

Last night I was doing a station-to-planet trade run for a break from the monotony, and had autodock (foolishly) turned on.. it flipped me into the planet's surface, and left me with 4% hull before I got control back. Manually docking on a planet with a fully loaded cutter, sans shields, with 4% hull left.. well that was both a terrible and awesome feeling. I touched the dock, just touched it, lost 2% more hull, and finally docked near-dead. that's 200k repair bill was worth it compared to the near 30 million lose otherwise.

Also, 3% left.

Last night I decided to take the Cutter down to Merope, to see the Barnacles.
There were a few other CMDRs there already shooting the place up. Getting late and they went home, so I reset the instance to get some 'intact' screenies.

As I was then off to move my ship, so when I log on later I dont squash someone, I had the most bizarre experience.

A CMDR in a Diamondback logged in. He then took off and hovvered in front of my parked ship. Cool, looking it over.
"Hello CMDR"
"Greetings"
He then got close enough to start rumpleing the shields.
"?" was my response
"Time to take the quick way home" was his reply.
He then proceeded to try and fly up my landing steps, bouncing the ground repeatedly. The Cutters shields barely flickered of course.
I took off and went to park a little further out, and as I was flying away, contact lost.
He must have succeeded in his destruction attempt...
A most bizarre end to the evening, all captured in shadowplay.

I gave up after grinding 300M in my T9 to go off and just fool around doing other things, like ranking. I was doing the Cubeo planetary missions when I had my mishap. So fair play to you keeping up the grind. I cant even look at my T9 anymore. Ive left it residing in Xuanduna. Maybe if I get to cutter rank I will resume; but for now arseing around is my preference. I'm in no particular hurry in-game. Still just 40% Entrepreneur.

I'm still grinding with my conda but not continuously all the time, I switch to combat, then sometimes I go to mine, last week I participated in one of the community goals too. You just have to mix everything so it doesn't become totally boring.

What ship for smuggling missions? Can just afford my Python rebuy so needs to be a cheap one. Also considering a fdl over the Python till I can afford to "a" rate one.

Gained Elite just shy of 1 Billion in trade profit. I'd estimated 1.01 billion for my goal.

I'm elite, in elite. Such a great journey from the start of my game. I owe it all to ElitePVE showing me that PVP was NOT the only option for Elite:Dangerous. Otherwise, I'd have never bought the game.

Now, my empty Cutter is off to Shinrarta Dezhra to park my trade beast for a bit, and buy a Corvette.. unless someone knows where the Corvette is sold cheaper than Jameson Memorial.
