it was a calculated risk and it paid off. but we've all seen those 'i flew without insurance and lost all my money' threads and this was just one more situation like that - i *only just* had insurance but if i took a fall and used it, the only option would be to do the same thing again without any.

now safely back at Maityan in the Vulture again, earning money via the usual methods i.e. killing things

got 10 mil in payouts from the Dakshmandi and Cemiess CGs too, which helped a bit

cmdr clivus only had 140 mil in cash but wanted an Anaconda, so went to grab one from Diaguandri and made the 200Ly journey home in an almost bare shell without incident.

Did something like that when I bought Python from a station with discount. The discount really was worth the risk in my opinion (15% on everything) so I scrapped the insurance and flew the bright'n'shiny new, comparatively strangely-behaving, moderately-equipped Python home. No risk no fun ... but I had a Vulture waiting at the home station, so at least I wouldn't have had to start all over in a Sidey if some AI Anacondas had been up for a swift snack. But well, loosing >60 mil wouldn't have been too nice ...

exactly my situation, i kept Scooby the Grumpy Vulture at home but sold everything else - and the trip home wasn't as bad as i was expecting, because i could make 20Ly jumps with a 'B' FSD whereas i was expecting something more like 9 or 10 Ly.

speaking of Scooby, she is now down at Amitrite doing well in the CG, made around 6 mil so far i think. it's an odd type of goal for bounty hunting, because only a specific faction's bounties count towards it (Amitrite Defence Force) and regular Empire bounties don't. and the ratio is something like 1.5:1 so for every 1 mil you earn for the goal, you get 1.5 mil that doesn't.

I've been getting several well paying ($175k-$350k each) assassination missions from the BB in my home system this weekend. I completed 4 missions in two neighboring systems in about 30 minutes. $$$

I have adopted a sector on the edge of the bubble which is a poor backwater and I am seeing if I can stimulate the economy to become a prosperous place to live. It's in Alliance space so I also joined in with PP and each time my triangular trade route takes me through the control system I pick up reinforcement chits to take to Gateway at the end of the session. It's an experiment really to see if I can combine trade and reinforcement single-handedly to strengthen my little niche. I was encouraged after the first day to see that someone else had reinforced my system too. They must have seen the reinforcement symbol on the map and chipped in.

A few factions that I trade with have gone into boom while I've been working up there. I don't know if it's my doing but I can see that the two-jump trade route that I started now shows up on the destination's "imported from" list in the commodities market, so I do get the feeling that my actions are being manifested in the background simulation. It's rewarding to see that, but it was blinking dull for the first week.

Where is it? You'll see me trundling around a remote part of the galaxy map if you really need to know.

Just shot down 6 million (s i x) worth of space hi-tech in two hours ... wow ... and am enjoying the probably very short-lived feeling of being among the top 5%. Wellwellwell, what a difference to the CZ CGs!
