Been hauling BMEDS to outbreak systems after awhile as my rep increased started to look at the Passenger Missions there was one available a 2-3 systems 80-178LY ranging for 9 to 12 million managed to do 11 before they dried up. Anyway switched to the Dolphin the screaming demon is a fun ship to fly and I think Flipper has paid for herself then some.

I'm currently grinding my way through the Imperial ranks to get their ships, and amassing a nice armada of my own in the process. The most amusing part is I set up base in Nu, without realising that I'm only about 20 ly from Azrael!

Logged in, watched start button for a while, browsed the interdent and logged out.

There are engine colours and new nameplates on Frontier store now.
I play on PC, in the Mobius PVE Eurasia group.

A lot of basic cargo runs to build up money. I've already got a Sidewinder built for mining (kinda), an Eagle that has yet to be named and prepped for combat, and my Cobra MK2 or MK3, can't remember which, that I use for an all-rounder.
Officially rank #280k at osu!Standard, rank #88k at osu!Taiko.
Still craps himself when dropping out in front of stars or stations.
Arma 3 keybinds best keybinds.
Bingewatches Top Gear or listens to 24/7 Music Twitch streams while playing.

Thanks for posting that info, Comet. I'll save the link for the next time that I need a U.P.

Hello CMDR
As a suggestion, get your hands on a T6. Great ship for cargo hauling and mining. You can also equip it with an SRV for planet exploration.

Great fun to fly too, albeit not for fighting.

Useful information.
I will keep it as a reference when I need it.
Thanks for sharing

Re: Nearby Nebula 'Asteroid Base' Tour?

thebs wrote:if I was going to do a Nearby Nebula 'Asteroid Base' Tour, what ones would you guys recommend? I'm thinking of doing one before heading out to Colonia again.

Just browsing a few here, but don't feel like looking up all the locations in the EDSM 1-by-1.

Any good routes that hit a half-dozen ... or more?

Most of the asteroid bases outside the bubbles are located in nebula, so take this handy reference diagram (click to enlarge)

Yeah, I remember that map.

Cometborne wrote:And then use the EDSM advanced search to be able to simply click on an entry.

Yeah, I finally hit EDSM, and it has the various bases. I was hoping to do a tour with a base every couple of nebula visits. There are other POIs as well.

Cometborne wrote:And then check my older post for a route proposal.

Hmmm, that's not coming up for me. Don't know why.

Cometborne wrote:That route was created by plugging the 30 bases known at that time into CMDR Alot EDTS scripts, which include a TSP solver. Since you have some Linux boxes, you should give them a try.

Definitely! I really need to get more into the new log facilities, and input it into various tools. I always keep my 5 year-old, but still very capable, Dell Precision m4700 (i7-3840qm, 32GiB RAM, 5TiB NAND+SSHD) "workstation notebook" (running Fedora) with me at all times, so I can always run just about anything.

Cometborne wrote:Unfortunately, the complexity of this is O(n!), and even 30! is a lot, and we now have 37! known bases, so there are 1.3 * 10^43 possible routes. I eventually did 500 runs with the standard logic and 500 more runs with the simplified "nearest neighbour" logic, and parsed the results to select the route with the smallest total jump distance.

Yeah, I have an engineering degree, and the plausible number of permutations quickly crossed my mind.

Cometborne wrote:Flying that route took longer than expected due to the permit-locked sectors around the Witchhead and Orion nebulas. For Witchhead, feel free to use the back door at Synuefe KU-K C10-1 <-> Witch Head Sector HR-W D1-12, needs 18.6 LY jump range. However, the real issue was the transit from the Orion Nebula Tourist Center to Thor's Helmet Nebula. If I remember correctly, I eventually pulled back north through Witch Head Sector until I was back in Synuefe, and then plotted manually in a generally north-eastern direction until I was past all the Col X Sector permit locks. Details can be found in my public flight logs on EDSM.

Cometborne wrote:And as I learned on the Local Sightseeing Tour, getting from Orion to California is also a PITA.

I'm skipping Orion, and just going southwest and west. I've read a lot about the perma-locked areas, and decided I just want to avoid them.

I might just visit only a few WSW, less than a dozen, and then head on to Colonia. Or I might do the full Rift tour, and then head towards Colonia. I mean ... There has to be a lot of exploration data for the capturing by taking an off-axis route to Colonia.

Thanx for all the information, and definitely for the mention of CMDR Alot's EDTS scripts. I'm a coder of many languages, especially on POSIX (UNIX/Linux, including BSD-Darwin aka MacOS X), so I really, really need to dive into all the tools available.
