TIL after going back through the logs that is was in fact an NPC that killed me, not another CMDR. I think I'd just assumed with how quickly I was taken down it had to be an player and not NPC, since I can usually run from NPCs with no problem. Sorry for the mix up.

However lesson is still learned. I also now remember how much fun flying a Cobra is. So much speedier than a T9.

Pay attention when picking up missions. You can take mission with a higher combat ranking than your own, meaning that you can trigger Elite combat NPCs, and they will give most cmdrs a run for their money...

Wait, "naming and shaming" isn't allowed here either, just as on the game's official forums?* How is anyone supposed to steer clear of bogus "friend" requests then (solely designed to make the victim easier to find)?

*Was this always the case here? I was under the impression that it didn't used to be.

If you're playing in Mobius, then other CMdrs should not attack you. Your Friends list should be exactly that - a list of friends. :) It's sad that griefers have perverted the usage of the friends list into a victims list nowadays.

Naming and shaming has bad consequences here just like on the official forums. In the example above, the accused was entirely innocent all along - imagine if everyone started removing the poor commander from their friends lists, blocking him, excluding him from events and shooting him on sight in Open. And then the shitstorm that would ensue because the Mobius admins refused to kick him from the group because there wasn't any evidence of griefing!

Instead, report a griefer to the admins and let them investigate the incident based on the evidence. Usually the difference between an accident/misunderstanding and real griefing are very clear.

the reason for it is simple, it means if we get multiple reports of activities by the same player we know they are more than likely genuine and not just other users bandwagoning to help the OP
