I have the opposite problem: Spent the last six months in a cutter exploring, and almost exclusively flew the cutter for another two months before that. Then I started with my alt account. The starting sidewinder has the worst thrusters ever, but my first station exit was like a ball in a pinball machine.

I did that this week right after remapping a bunch of keys. Boost instead of 0% throttle anyone?
Had a bunch of spectators, hope it was a good show.

WHY the hell do they make landing pads right at the entrance...
SO i slow ..
I enter, I look for my pad.. cant find it cuz im directly over it..
Get rearended by the Type 9...
Get fined for recless driving.. , get dents.. get fined for recless driving again.. Get yelled at for stalling at entrance...

Also - etiquette is green light to the right - your pads should be something like this

When you enter the station, the little target/navigation compass thingy shows where your pad is. If it solid it's ahead, hollow behind, as well as showing if it's above, below, to the left or right, etc...

Or install EDDI, and get a voice queue describing where you pad is as soon as the docking request is approved. Very handy.

OMFG!... Life just got easy.. No i did not know this.. I have been cussing this game since i got it for this one reason alone..

I have been using this for a while, if you manoeuvre the ball to be at the bottom of the compass, at the thresshold of where it shifts between solid and hollow, and of course you are pitched level with the station at. That is dead center on the pad.

Using this I mostly touch down and barely have to shift in any direction at all.

Unless of course if I'm in the asp where I need to make my impression at the back of the station first...

Am I the only one why actually slows down to the speed limit while approaching a station?

I have before now gone to land quite hot and overshot, thinking I'd use reverse thrust - boost was used instead and, I bounced off the back wall and lodged myself between those supports, I damaged my hull more trying to get out then hitting the wall...
