As I guess this will be deleted by the Frontier Mods, quickly, I just want to add it here. I'm not the original poster, but I think his idea of giving people a chance to read what he has experienced and make it accessible for people searching the Web for insight to Frontiers actions towards customers is good enough reason to have it here:

Original Post by "eddi" on the Frontier Forums (https://forums.frontier.co.uk/showthread.php?t=60257&p=1212485&viewfull=1#post1212485)

EDIT: Link already dead as Frontier Forum Police has censored the customer complaint as usual...

FULL REFUND RECEIVED!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to paypal, not these scammers. Id just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone else who was caught out by these carpet baggers for showing solidarity in the face of all the abuse received here by people happy with on line only.

Id also like to take this opportunity to give the finger to all the mods who where obviously condoning the abuse we received. Im writing this from behind a 2rd account and a vpn having been banned until feburary for defending myself against an onslaught of abuse, even though the abuse posts werent deleted(at least not at the time), EDIT: "..." banned me for replying to that abuse.

To anyone still waiting, please dont accept the partial. Collect your evidence and contect your card issuer, paypal or whoever it might be and get a refund. Dont wait for FD to offer you a fraction of the amount you put in in good faith. Get it all back, its your money.

And last but not least I have to say I really hope this game fails horribly. I really do. Had I just gotten a refund in the first instance I would have wished it well, but considering the horrible anti consumer nature of the company I hope you tank. Hope you got a chance to read this before Its gets deleted and I get banned again. Not that I care I won, you lost EDIT "..." buh bye

Thanks for sharing Deyn. Damn that sucks all kind of balls. Glad he got his money, but sad it had to get so messy.

I'm still holding my breath for a change of heart by FD. I so want them to wake up. I'm still waiting on a full refund. I argued that I would stay on if they promised offline down the line and haven't heard from them since. Would be nice to hear something soon.

Keep the faith Deyn. :)

Well at least he acknowledges the 'anger' over the issue from the backers who wanted an off line mode. I think he genuinely takes this seriously. Frontier Developments isn't just David Braben though is it?

I hope they do manage a way to implement an off line game, maybe one where you can download a story update onto a usb drive and then install it on your PC (for those without an internet connection), but I know nothing about computer programming unless you count BBC BASIC and a flirtation with Assembly language on the Beeb (that ended with me in a heap on the floor after trying to count in Base 16) so who am I to say?

David is head honcho and founder of Frontier Developments. I do believe that what he says goes.

General consensus is that if he could make Elite, Frontier: Elite 2 and Frontier: First Encounters, all at least 2 decades ago and all offline, saying that Elite: Dangerous can't be done offline is stretching it quite a bit to say the least.

Personally I think in-game advertisement (game financing) has something to do with the always online decision. It's practically impossible to sell real time ad space to games that are offline.

Oh, finances must have something do do with it, I'm totally with you on that one. I think there must be some pressure to release the game as, correct me if I'm wrong, as far as I can see there is money locked in financiers pockets until the game goes live. Maybe the time constraints affected this. But as someone new to PC gaming I have no prior experience to compare this software development with. I just got my old music PC and down loaded Oolite to re live my childhood then found out about ED (And as you know ended up building my first ever PC to play this game ).

I suppose I'm just trying to put a positive slur on this matter as I hope people, like your good self, who are upset (to put it mildly) with the current state of affairs can still see some joy in playing and come and join us Commanders in space where I'm sure you would all be greeted with open cargo hatches.

To whom it concerns. I count myself as among those who understands why this issue is so important to such a number of Elite fans.

Fly safe Commanders!

As I'm not sure if this post will get me banned, I take the liberty to post it here also... this is bordering on the hillarious now, as Frontier Development is trying to shift blame on their impatient customers:

"
Like I said above, we will get round to responding to everyone. I'm sorry you've had to resort to that - it's hard because we can't give unfair treatment and push anybody up the list, as we've simply had to deal with hundreds of ticket requests. I know it's frustrating, I'd be annoyed if I was in your situation, but if you can remain patient we absolutely will get round to helping you out.

It might help to staff the team accordingly, before calling for desaster? It isn't the customer's fault, that employment priorities or business decisions at Frontier Development are causing trouble or delays, right?
You are not some "buddies from around the corner", you are a real company. Companies have to act on changes in business.
You decided to process the flood of tickets with an understaffed team, after hopefully assessing the financial and other risks. The decision seems to be you can stem the losses from the "few" credit card disputes?
So in the end Frontier Develpoments as a company is responsible for how these refund issues work out, not the customers, patiently waiting to get their tickets processed... it is pretty hippochritic to shift the blame to the customer "not being patient enough"
You even reacted to a lot of tickets and offered a partial refund that was unacceptable for quite a few people here. Now you have to deal with their requests for the full refund they deserve, again. Had you simply paid a full refund in the first place and without lengthy enquiries, how many cases would already have been closed?

Again, that was Frontier Developmants decision how to handle these cases, not the customer's.

I guess people see and understand the problem you are in, yet they don't understand why you don't take the necessary actions to solve it. "

Sorry but I do not see where FD was saying the customer is not being patient enough. I see them saying "we are working on it" and "we know its frustrating but we are getting through them as fast as we can" and asks for people to be patient, the difference is asking people to be so.

At no point do I see FD blaming the customer for anything.

The gentleman threatening legal action, well he will send his legal claim in. It will take 6-8 weeks for the courts to respond (assuming his a solicitor so does the paperwork himself, if not add 1-2 weeks at least as well) then maybe in 12 weeks he will get a summary judgement. If elite has not given him a refund within 3 months then I see why he went to court but I think they will have.

The judgement will be (imo); you deserve a refund, but already have a refund. What more do you want?
