A 5E FSD will certainly get you more jump range than the 3A. Not sure why you're getting the error though. Are you trying to put the 5E FSD into a slot that is smaller than a size 5? Do you have the cash on hand to pay for the module?

Any size 5 FSD is going to give you better jump range than a smaller module (except a 4A compared to a 5E).

I think you have your numbers and letters mixed up. A 5E is bigger than a 3A, a 3A is far too small for a Python.

The number is the size, the letter is the quality.
E=Stock (comes with ship)
D=Lightest
C=Mid range
B=Armored (i.e. heaviest)
A=Best power to rate.

The Python need a size 5, and ideally an A grade one.

Hi ppl, thanks for the swift reply,

Ok certainly have enough cash, and I am replacing the FSD in the 5 slot where the 3A is appreciate the clarification on number letter strength also :)

So when I try to buy the 5E FSD it just keeps saying error fitting module and takes me back to the outfitting screen. very odd I will go sell the ship and try again maybe i caused a weird bug buying a small fsd instead.

will let ya know cheers again for assitance..

Cheers for the help, rebuying the ship fixed the outfitting error so all is well with the world and I may continue my galactic adventures..

Fly safe cmdr o7 :)
