Oh and just so you think I posted those feelings without being in danger, your wrong. Just lost my ship to them. I don't expect compensation, nor do I plan to name them. It will be dealt with. I provided Proof and move on.

It's all very well hiding the accused's identity, but the victim has their name splayed across the internet. Is this fair?

once i get my main account back to the bubble i will gladly reimburse cmdrs if they need it, it might take a few weeks though, i'm at Jaques ;)

the irony of all this is it only serves to bring our community closer together, people post on the forums and facebook for the first time to make a report, the group gets publicity on the FD forums and in facebook groups and because its a generally shitty thing to do to a PvE group public opinion of our group skyrockets and membership see's a large bump. we couldn't ask for better advertising :D

Re: PvP warning for Segovan CG - Griefers or honest role playing?

Postby ParklandD » Sun Jul 10, 2016 7:29 pm

Hi all. This is my first post here - discovered your forum whilst trying to get info on Twitter about the Lockdown during the Segovan CG.

I got caught up in this on Friday night. I was limping back after an NPC attack with a full cargo of Gallium and the guys turned up behind (two blips)
They were using modified weapons, and my Type 6 didn't last more than about a minute. Worst part about it was that I was only a spit and a throw away from Ramsbottom when I got toasted.

Here's the thing, though. I didn't think they were griefers. The CG is all about Federation expansion. If these players were Imperial sympathizers, wouldn't that just be playing in character? I was killed fair and square - not using any mods that aren't part of the game and available to all.

Surely, that's just playing the game "in character"? No?

Anyway, I've been in Solo play for the last couple of days. I've decided to stick to the motto "If you can't take a bloody nose, stay out of the playground", and will complete the rest of the CG in quiet isolation (or at least, I will - once the lockdown is lifted!)

ParklandD - Actually, if you were in Mobius and they jumped you, that was a violation of the group rules, and Mobius is trying to strain the crapheads out that lied to get in the group to go duck hunting. Its not "in character." That kind of "in character" crap is what open is for.

@ParklandD - for open that would be a perfectly acceptable argument, however the Mobius Private groups have one simple rule, no PVP outside of CZs, thousands of Commanders playing for tens of thousands of hours have been able to follow this most basic of instruction.

Really? You actually think that 1) there is a mechanic that would allow for this and 2) that it is that big of a deal to lose a ship/cargo that is out of control of The group admins?

That is one of the most idiotic things I have heard in all these arguments, and that includes the thread on whether Mobius group is biased.

If you feel that the danger is so great, and you can't afford the loss (either monetarily or psychologically) then may I suggest Solo till you feel Safe?

You know they are in a Particular area, and you know that they will be dealt with in due time. Either avoid the area, or avoid the playing group/open. Use some intelligence and forget this idea that you are entitled to something when you clearly are not.

I am usually pretty easy going, but this is bloody stupid.

Hey Lori,
Here have a Bintang Beer and come relax man. :)

I agree that with the way FD have implemented game mechanics it's not up to Mobius admins to compensate for a players loss.

However, after the last incident FD have admitted to being partially at fault for letting this type of griefing happen and did offer compensation (if I remember correctly.) So if a Mobius CMDR feels aggrieved at loosing his ship, etc. to this latest mode incursion I would suggest officially reporting the player and filing a ticket. You might get your money back.

Have fun, fly safe. o7

P.S.: Been back in game for 2 days doing RNGineer shite. Will gladly drop off a ton of Bintang beer to any CMDR who wants to chill. :)

Hi ParklandD,
There is no justification for PvP in Mobius "."
As far as I understand it, even the "PvP is ok in CZ" policy is just to alleviate the problem of CMDRs on opposite sides (or same sides) accidentally shooting each other in the heat of battle and then reporting it as PvP griefing.
This is not the 1st group to uses lame excuses such as RP, etc. to hide the fact that they can't read and/or a bunch of sorry little SDOBs (have to be politically correct) whose word is not worth the oxygen used to utter it. And until FD implements a true PvE mechanic, they won't be the last.

Have fun, fly safe. o7

Don't think FD ever compensated for this type of situation before. They compensated for the Super AI, and the "We broke Stuff" since engineers dropped, but not this. If they did I would like to see the statement from them about it.

I am calm, was calm, and still am calm. I just find it ridiculous to even suggest that Mobius should compensate. The rules by the group are clear. and no where does it mention indemnification by playing in group. So thoughts to that regard are just whiny people that are used to the "I'll Sue You" system that society has been kind enough to think they are entitled to.

Suck it up, stuff happens.

Falcon, buy me a beer and I will show you where you can drive a ship through a mountain! :P

I got blown up just as i was docking into Ramsbottom station lol

To be honest while mildly irritating, I could afford the lose so no biggie in that sense. Then again after buying back, I get pulled out of supercruise and blown up again. So I buy a cheap Cobra to be able to fly in so I have a cheap ship to loose so I can find the CMDR and block him/her (can you do that outside of the game? I couldn't find a way) and I noticed his bounty, a whopping 32,000CR for at least 2 murders. And this CMDR was flying around the system without being pestered by any authority in system.

If the game took murder more seriously, when you are guilty of it, that the game responses with an increase in police (in non anarchy systems and scaled against the level of security). So flying through those systems should be much harder with a much higher chance of being interdicted by cops (and with more and bigger ships). At the end of the day if you have a bounty of 100,000CR after doing 8-9 murders the cops should be swarming all over them. If they are in a big ship, then the police response should be with more ships and more larger ships, they should also be calling in more backup as well.

Hope you sent the screen shot to the admins.
