Nah - discovery scan to see if there's anything juicy, and move on. However, when I did find a system with an ammonia or earth-like, I scanned the whole system except for asteroids. I also didn't bother with anything further out than 100k ls unless it was worth a lot.

Do you have any advice on plotting a course to Sag A?

The "beaten track" is the direct line from the bubble to SagA*. Go sideways and up or down for your first few dozen jumps once you leave the bubble. When you start hitting undiscovered systems on every jump, start heading in from there.

Plot 800ly routes to start with, then wind them in to about 100ly routes as you get close to SagA*. Just do a couple of jumps at a time as you get within a few hundred ly of the centre.

Filter the galaxy map by abfgkmo type stars ("scoopable" - the first seven on the list). Every time you plot a route, make sure you hit a scoopable star before the solid route line turns dotted. Whenever you refuel, throttle back at about 55% heat (varies depending on your setup and the star) and as you refuel, check the GalMap to see you're getting to another scoopable star before the next dotted line.

If it turns bad and you realise you're going to run out of fuel, turn on "economic routes" and plot a new course to a scoopable star nearby.

Make sure you only fly vertically through the unscoopable region - a 15ly thick band of unscoopable T and L stars starting 30ly below the galactic plane.

So I'm 2,800 LY from Sol on my journey to Sag A, and one thing I've noticed is that there are a lot of lazy long distance explorers out there. Often I fly into a system to find the star next to which you enter the system has been "discovered" as well as any other celestial body that happens to be within close range (i.e., your scanner kicks in when you target the planet but don't have to move toward it). And they leave the moons and planets further out unscanned. Call yourselves "explorers"? Hang your heads in shame.
