My thoughts on this concept:

I have been using ED Tracker and based on the smooth movement of ObsidianAnt's advertisement on YouTube I bought Tobii EyeX. I had the worst experience with it. It took dozens of tries to set it up and even then it focused about an inch to the left of where I was looking. I was sorely disappointed. The movement was too jerky for my liking, too, not smooth like in OA's video. I got an RMA number and it's going back, even though I have to pay the return shipping.

So, now I'm back to ED Tracker. The irony is that I really like ED Tracker but hate the cable. That was the only reason I ordered Tobii. I use a wireless headset and the EDT cable gets in my way. But I read somewhere that they are working on a wireless version so I keep my fingers crossed.

Late, but in case anyone looks here: you can get 1.0.2 by looking at the release notes online.

Personally I'm coming from FaceTrackNoIR (in facetrack mode with an el-cheapo logicam) and I'm pretty happy.

Some slight issues setting it up related to old vJoy versions/settings, quickly resolved by support.

I'd love some more settings - I can't wait for the inertia settings coming in 1.2 - but for someone who loathes playing with a headset or other stuff on my head this is pretty great.

I might give that a go, but I have so far found a few settings in game that has drastically decreased the nervousness of the headlook.

My infinite screen settings for Elite is as follows now:
Speed: 3.0
Gradient : 1.25
Dead zone: 0.20
Counter to other analog input's decreasing dead zone settings for the eyetracker seem to.

But most effective was a few tweaks in the in game settings.
First and foremost I set the ingame control's menu to "Accumulate" instead of direct, in direct it seems the game always wan'ts to push back towards zero that very well could have caused 80% of the judder I was experiencing.

The rest is mostly now cases of the game going "screwy" a second or foggy glasses or my hair falling in front of my eyes (yeah I need a haircut)

Another thing I have done is decrease headlook sensitivity from about 50% to 35% (on the slider in the controls menu)
Last touch was removing all deadzone settings in the game, it might be this doesn't do anything after the switch to freetrack, since it seems to override other input settings.
For instance before this update I could switch off eyetracking and still use my regular POV button headlook, now this is completely overriden.

To use my old headlook buttons I have to shutdown the infinte screen software completely and restart the game.
After the latest tweaks it's not a big deal anymore and it's becoming more and more subconscious way of handling headlook.

I also made a small extra "riser shelf" for my screen, I can now get it and the tracker a few important centimeters closer and I don't feel like I have to crouch over my HOTAS in a manner and I can play more relaxed.

Here's a quick pic of both settings, and so far these are producing a smooth and quite responsive headlook.

My settings are very similar to yours, though I keep the speed at 4.

And the headlook button - yeah same as with TrackIR/FaceTrackNoIR/FreeTrack/EDTracker anything using a direct head-tracking protocol disables headlook completely.

v1.2 is out, with proper deadzone and inertia.

So far my settings are:

Speed: 4
Gradient: 1.5
Falloff 0.99
Deadzone: 0
Inertia: 1.5

Needs more playing with - especially what to change to make high inertia feel good.

Hoping by the end of the month or Mid May at the latest I can add my own input on this. Been sidelined >.>

I have been using this new version last few days.
And it was pretty instant improvement.

Much smoother even though camera movement is more responsive and quicker.
I run all settings so far at default except for speed that I have increased to 4.

Seems less picky about distance, at least for how I'm seated now and only get flaky when my glasses are really smudged or the sight line gets blocked.
Which now mostly means my furry copilot hops up on the desk :)

With very thick glasses, I had to give up with my distance and monitor size. My eyes were just far and my glasses just too thick.

I'm back to my DelanClip w/PS3 camera, which continues to work solid, and has for the past year with any distance/monitor, small or big.

During the month of March instead of Tobii EyeX you can snag this bundle which includes SteelSeries Sentry eye tracking controller for $139/€119, with Tom Clancy’s The Division, plus we are throwing in free shipping."

Kicker is... the ObsidianAnt code still works.. which drops it another 30% which is $95/€83 with free shipping (which for me was $25)

I realise this is like a month or two late... but just wondering where you saw Tobii - selling thre steel series etc. I realise they are the same product essentially, but I coudn't find any info on Tobii or Steel servies sites for this (or any other deals RE eye tracker)

Unless I just missed it... but .. yeah .. help appreciated.

When I posted, if you clicked to buy the EyeX Tobii was instead offering the Steelseries Sentry instead for the month.
